How much is a Safeco SR-22?

I’ve wracked up too many points on my driver’s license with speeding tickets, and now I have to get an SR-22 for three years. I’m worried about how much this is going to cost. Do you know how much a Safeco SR-22 is?

Well, there’s some good news and some bad news. The good news is that an SR-22 from Safeco costs around $15 to $25 to file. The bad news is that that’s only the cost for the SR-22 certificate—not your premium.
Needing an SR-22 makes insurance providers consider you a high-risk driver, meaning the price for your coverage is going to be more expensive than usual.
You can get the lowest price possible by shopping around for your coverage—GEICO, Progressive, and Travelers all offer assistance with filing an SR-22, as do plenty of local and smaller insurance companies. You should ask providers what discounts they offer, and take advantage of as many as you can to save money!
Once your three years are up and you’re allowed to drop your SR-22, your car insurance rates should slowly start to decrease—provided you keep a clean driving record.
