Finding cheaper than average coverage isn’t impossible—and even once you have a lower rate, you can still save on car insurance with these tips:
- Shop around: The best way to ensure that you get the most affordable price for your policy is to compare quotes from as many insurers as possible, either with an insurance agent or a broker, like Jerry.
- Raise your deductible: If you increase yourcar insurance deductible, or the amount of money you’ll pay out-of-pocket before your insurance kicks in, your monthly rate will go down. Just make sure that you’re still able to pay your deductible in the event of an accident.
- Bundle your insurance policies: Some insurers will offer discounts when youbundle your homeowners and auto insurance.
- Research discounts: Most insurance providers offer discounts, but those discounts aren’t always advertised. Contact your current provider and ask if you’re missing out on any potential savings.

In addition, we asked people what they like about their insurers and what areas in which their insurers could improve. The driver characteristics used in calculating average rates for auto insurance include: single driver, single car, currently insured, clean driving record.
