What is the 2013 Nissan Rogue Special Edition?

The 2013 Nissan Rogue comes in three
trim level options
: S,
SV
, and SV with the SL Package. Additionally, two options are available: the Special Edition Package and the Premium Package. A base-level front-wheel-drive 2013 Nissan Rogue S had an MSRP of around $20,310 in 2013, while the Special Edition Package added $1,200
The Special Edition Package could be added to any trim level and includes 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, fog lights, a 4.3-inch audio display, a USB interface, a RearView Monitor, steering wheel audio controls, satellite radio (SiriusXM subscription sold separately), and a Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System.

2013 Nissan Rogue overview

To understand whether the Special Edition Package is worthwhile, here’s an overview of the 2013 Nissan Rogue base model.
The Rogue is Nissan’s best-selling compact crossover, known for its overall well-roundedness. Despite its cool and rugged design, the 2013 Rogue has a comfortable interior and comes equipped with some impressive interior tech, making it a satisfying vehicle for every family.
For the 2013 model year, the Rogue has three trim levels:
  • S: Starting MSRP of $20,310
  • SV: Starting MSRP of $22,750
  • SV with SL Package: Starting MSRP of $26,650
Each trim could be purchased in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive for an added fee. Additionally, two options were available on any trim: the Premium Package and the Special Edition Package.
All trims are powered by the same 170-horsepower, 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine, paired with an automatic continuously variable transmission (CVT). Plus, every Rogue is built on Nissan's proven "C" platform, which provides high body stiffness with extensive use of high-strength steel utilized to help reduce body weight.
The 2013 Rogue features a 105.9-inch wheelbase and 183.3-inch overall length—among the longest in class, compared with leading small crossover competitors—providing ample rear seat proportions and one of the longest interior lengths available.
Key specs
  • $20,310 starting MSRP
  •  QR25DE 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve inline 4-cylinder
  • 170 horsepower
  • 175 pound-feet of
    torque
  • IIHS overall evaluation of “Good”

What’s special about the Special Edition?

The Special Edition isn’t a trim level—instead, it’s an optional package that could be added onto any trim for an additional $1,200.
Here’s what the package includes:
  • 16-inch aluminum-alloy wheels
  • Fog lights
  • 4.3-inch audio display
  • USB interface
  • RearView Monitor
  • Steering wheel audio controls
  • Satellite radio (SiriusXM subscription required, sold separately)
  • Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System
Purchased individually, these extras would add $2,700 to the bottom line—so the Special Edition Package was a great deal for those specifically interested in ramping up the Rogue’s interior technology.

2013 Nissan Rogue Special Edition Package vs. Premium Package

The 2013 Nissan Rogue came with two options that could be added to any trim: the Special Edition Package and the Premium Package. But what’s the difference?
Well, while the Special Edition Package cost buyers an additional $1,200, the Premium Package cost more than double, at $2,550.
Here are the added features included in the Premium Package:
  • Nissan Navigation System
  • 5.0-inch color touchscreen display (SiriusXM subscription required, sold separately)
  • Power glass moonroof
  • Automatic on/off headlights
  • Automatic air conditioning
  • Bose premium audio system with 7 speakers plus subwoofer
  • Fog lights
The standout feature—in our opinion—is the moonroof. But is it worth the extra cash? That’s entirely up to you! In terms of technology, we think that the Special Edition Package offers enough attractive features.
