Both models come standard with a 7.0-inch color touchscreen infotainment display—but that’s really where the similarities end. The Corolla Cross’s entry-level model—the L—comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0™ suite of driver assistance technology, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. Similarly, the base Corolla Cross comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration.
You’ll have to upgrade to at least the Honda HR-V Sport trim to get Apple and Android connectivity. Driver-assistance features are even more exclusive on the HR-V, requiring the top-tier EX and EX-L trims to unlock adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist, courtesy of Honda Sensing®.

Reliability
Toyota and Honda have remarkably well-renowned reliability reputations in the automotive world. As a brand-new model, the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross doesn’t have comprehensive reliability ratings of its own, though many publications—like J.D. Power, RepairPal, and Consumer Reports—have projected the model’s future reliability based on the reputation of the standard Toyota Corolla.
RepairPal gave the Corolla Cross and the HR-V reliability ratings of 4.5/5.0 and 5.0/5.0, respectively. This is one of the few matches in which the HR-V comes out on top, having been ranked the #1 subcompact SUV out of seven models by RepairPal.
