What is the Toyota Tacoma Technology package?
Toyota’s Tacoma Technology package is an add-on package available on a few of the 2023 Tacoma trims. The package equips the upper trim levels with safety features and capabilities beyond the standard options on the base model.
The technology package is available on the Trail Special Edition, TRD Sport, and TRD Off-Road trims.
The technology package can’t be added to the SR or SR5 trims. You are also unable to add it to the Limited and TRD Pro trims because most of the features in the package come standard on those trims.
What’s included
The 2023 Toyota Tacoma technology package can be confusing because the same or similar package names are used across trims, despite having different starting prices and features.
Fear not—here’s a breakdown of the technology package across the trims it’s available on:
Technology package with options ($1,285): blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert (requires colored-keyed rear bumper), parking sonar, and LED headlights and fog lights
Technology package with options ($1,450): blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert (requires colored-keyed rear bumper), parking sonar, and tonneau cover
Technology package with options ($1,935): blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert (requires colored-keyed rear bumper), parking sonar, LED headlights and fog lights, and tonneau cover
TRD Off-Road (MSRP $35,940)
Technology package with options ($1,255): blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert (requires colored-keyed rear bumper), parking sonar, and LED headlights and fog lights
Technology package with options ($1,905): blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert (requires colored-keyed rear bumper), parking sonar, LED headlights and fog lights, and tonneau cover
The Technology package equips your Tacoma with safety features and practical capabilities that are otherwise unavailable.
Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, and parking sonar are features that notify you when a vehicle or object is detected in your blind spot, or approaching your vehicle from the side while you’re backing up or parking.
LED headlights and fog lights offer enhanced visibility when driving in the fog, snow, rain, mist, or at night. They are brighter, more energy-efficient, and have a longer life span than regular lights.
These safety features can help prevent some of the most common car accidents—plus, they may make you eligible for a car insurance discount through your provider.
A tonneau cover fits over the bed of your Tacoma, providing a secure and protected storage area. If you’re planning to be transporting cargo in the back of your Tacoma, investing in a tonneau cover is a good idea.

Technology package vs. the Advanced Technology package
If you’ve got your eyes on TRD Sport or the TRD Off-Road trim, the Advanced Technology is another package worth considering.
On the TRD Sport, the Advanced Technology package is similar to the regular Technology package with features like blind-spot monitoring and rear parking sonar. But it kicks it up a level with panoramic view monitoring, power color-keyed outside rearview mirrors with turn signal, and blind spot warning indicators.
The TRD Off-Road Advanced Technology package also includes a power color-keyed outside rearview mirror and a parking sonar, then adds a multi-terrain monitor for a 360-degree view.
One limitation of this package is that it’s only available on the double cab versions of the TRD Sport and TRD Off-Road trims.
