background
Dodge isn’t considered a luxury car manufacturer—they have a luxury division called
Chrysler
, which produces luxury classics like the Pacifica and 300.
They might not specialize in luxury cars, but Dodge’s three long-running classic models—the Charger, Durango, and Challenger—all come with available  “SRT Hellcat” packages. These packages offer significant drivetrain upgrades in the form of classic Dodge muscle, along with the top-level luxury options offered on the regular versions.
If you’re planning to upgrade to one of these models, though, you may need a hand saving on your
Dodge insurance costs
. Luckily, that’s easy with

Is Dodge a luxury car?

No—Dodge is considered to be a luxury car manufacturer. However, Dodge is the
parent company of the luxury brand Chrysler
, which currently produces the 300, Pacifica, and Voyager models.

What makes a luxury car?

There’s not really a set rubric for what makes a “luxury” car brand, but it primarily comes down to self-identity. Chrysler and
Audi
market themselves as luxury vehicles, while a brand like
Toyota
might highlight their vehicles’ utility and practicality to garner sales.
Dodge is a bit of a strange case now, since it is starting to rebrand itself as a distinctly muscle car brand.
Here are some features that tend to define the very best luxury cars produced:
  • Performance features: big engines, sport-tuned suspension
  • Comfort features: high-quality upholstery, comfort tech like heated seats and steering wheels
  • Technology features: top-line sound systems, navigation, and cutting-edge safety features
  • Style features: bold exterior design, high-end lighting components, exclusive paint colors
There’s no denying that Dodge’s top-of-the-line vehicles have some of these things to offer, but it’s their interior quality that still doesn’t feel quite as upscale as what you’d expect from most luxury car interiors.

The best Dodge “luxury” cars

The most lavishly equipped Dodge vehicles are of the “SRT Hellcat” variety. However, the initial price doesn’t include all of the most enticing tech and comfort options. For that, you’ll want to upgrade to a higher trim.

Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat

With a starting price of $79,595, the 2022
Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat
is the most expensive Charger you can get, available in the following three trims: Widebody, Redeye Widebody, and Redeye Widebody Jailbreak. Each version comes with a slightly more powerful 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine, topping out at 807 horsepower on the SRT Jailbreak. Pricing for this top-trim version starts at $89,190.
While it does offer plenty of power and a thrilling driving experience all-round, the interior of the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat just doesn’t bring the luxury-level feel. The interior materials look and feel cheap, despite housing expensive electronics.
Standard features include:
  • Leather upholstery
  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • 6-speaker audio system
  • 8.4-inch touchscreen
  • Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Heated rear seats
  • Deluxe alarm system
Additional options are navigation, a Carbon & Suede package that adds carbon-fiber and faux-suede interior features, and a 19-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system

Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat

For lovers of Dodge muscle who also have a family and their adventure gear to haul around, there’s the
Dodge Durango SRT
Hellcat, available in Base, Plus, Blacktop, or Premium trim. The Durango SRT Hellcat was produced and sold out quickly for 2021, but will be returning soon for the 2023 model year. The most expensive models could cost around $100,000.
This large SUV is just as fast as a Challenger, and it’s truly the ultimate in American adventure vehicles, although you will have to deal with dismal fuel efficiency numbers.
Standard features include:
  • Heated, ventilated seats
  • Custom Hellcat badging
  • Flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters
  • 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with Uconnect 5
  • Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa compatibility
  • Rear automatic emergency braking
  • Automatic high beams
Additional extras for the Durango SRT Hellcat include front automated emergency braking and a rear-seat entertainment system with two 9-inch screens on the backs of the front seats.

Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat

While the Charger is a sedan, the Dodge Challenger is Dodge’s coupe model, about as muscle-car as they come nowadays. The 2023
Challenger SRT Hellcat
gets the same engines as the Charger SRT Hellcat, but it doesn’t have to be a Widebody. Here are the trims for the 2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat, ranging from about $69,000-$88,000.
Able to go from 0-60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, the Dodge Challenger is one of the few pure American muscle cars still in production. Recently, Dodge and Chrysler appear to be dipping their toes into electrified models with the upcoming Dodge Challenger eMuscle, Dodge Hornet, and Chrysler Airflow, to compete with electrified Ford Mustangs and Alfa Romeos.
Standard features include:
  • 8.4-inch infotainment touchscreen
  • Navigation
  • Apple CarPlay/Android Auto
  • Leather upholstery
  • Custom SRT Hellcat badging
  • Heated/ventilated front seats
  • Rear parking sensors
Additional extras for the Challenger SRT Hellcat include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, and forward-collision warning, but there are few standard safety features.

FAQs

No, but many of its more expensive offerings are pricier than Lexus’ models. That being said, Lexus is well-known as a luxury brand, while Dodge isn’t. You’ll notice that Lexus models focus on luxury aspects like peaceful, spacious interiors and upscale materials.
They certainly can be, but most of their vehicles start at fairly affordable ranges, with the cheaper Dodge Chargers and Challengers being considered “pony cars.” For example, the cheapest 2023 Dodge Challenger will likely start around the $33,000 mark, while the most expensive Durango SRT Hellcat models can reach into $100,000 territory.
