Has the 2022 BMW X7 been redesigned?

No—BMW hasn’t yet updated the first-generation X7 since it debuted in 2019. Instead, 2022 reshuffles the standard features and options available in 2021, but it’s still fundamentally the same car.

Opt for the base xDrive40i trim and you’ll still get a 335-hp turbocharged inline-six engine. Paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, it provides an impeccably smooth and pleasant ride for you and up to five passengers. What’s more, this trim gets the best fuel economy with 21/19/24 mpg (combined/city/highway).

But the cherry on top is the X7’s extensive list of standard features, including:

It’s not your imagination: the feature has been removed and replaced by standard Enhanced Bluetooth (EBT). With EBT, you can pair up to two phones for hands-free calling and music streaming, plus reading emails, sending texts, marking tasks, and more in Microsoft Office.

New sunshades for the M50i

There's a lot to like about the mid-level M50i trim: its twin-turbocharged 4.4L V8 engine delivers 523 hp without ever feeling out of control. You can’t expect a lot of fuel mileage (just 17 mpg combined), but you can look forward to loads of luxury. Inside this leather-lined retreat, you'll find:

After such an impressive list of features, the fact that the 2022 M50i's second row now includes power sunshades (rather than manual ones) is somewhat anticlimactic. Again, there are no significant changes to be found.

Individual options removed

A buyer who wanted one or two features from the Dynamic Handling Package could add them individually to the xDrive40i in 2021. Not in 2022—the complete package costs $3,850 and includes:

Currently, the only performance-oriented individual option left is M Sport Brakes, with either blue or black calipers, for $650.

Buyers aren’t generally bothered by minor changes as long as they don’t come with a major price increase. Fortunately, the 2022 X7 won't cost you a penny more than the 2021 version. Here's the price list:
