cost! What is the Audi Q5 Black Optics package?
Audi’s Black Optics Package is offered on just about every model and adds features that are mostly just visual—namely, spiffy black exterior accents. The contents of the package are different for every model, and while some include performance upgrades, the Q5 is not one of them.
The Q5 is offered in three trim levels—Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige. The Black Optics Package is only available on the Premium Plus and Prestige levels, and even then only if you select an upgraded powertrain. It’s simply not for the entry-level anything, thank you very much.
What’s included
To be honest, the Black Optics Package on the Q5 doesn’t bring a whole lot. Here’s what you get:
20-inch, 5-arm cutter design wheels with bi-color finish
….and that’s it. But they’re really shiny, so there’s that.

The Black Optics Package is designed to make your Audi stand out in a crowd. For the Q5, it adds some eye-catching details for sure.
But as attractive as they are, the high-gloss black accents don’t really “do” anything—unless you count making you happy, especially when people admire your shiny Q5. And don’t get us wrong—being happy with your ride is certainly important!
In addition to looking sharp, the 20-inch wheels are larger than the ones that come standard, which may be a desirable feature for some, but make no difference for others. In general, wider tires allow for better traction and performance handling, but can sometimes make the ride a bit stiffer and noisier. If you can, it might be wise to test-drive a Q5 with and without the 20-inch tires, so you can see if it’s a difference you notice or care about.
How much is the 2023 Audi Q5 Black Optics package?
Okay—so how much will the Black Optics Package be on an Audi Q5?
The price for the Audi Q5 Black Optics Package is either $500 or $1,300, depending on which powertrain you choose. The three powertrains available were differentiated with the numbers 40, 45, and 55, and the Black Optics package couldn’t be attached to anything base-level.
Confused? We got you. Here's how the pricing breaks down:
Audi Q5 Premium Plus 45: $1,300
Audi Q5 Premium Plus 55: $500
Audi Q5 Prestige 45: $1,300
Audi Q5 Prestige 55: $500
So if you get the midrange 45 powertrain, the Black Optics Package is $1,300. If you spring for the top-of-the-line 55 powertrain (the PHEV), it’s $500.

4.7/5 rating on the App Store | Trusted by 5+ million customers and 7 million cars 4.7/5 app rating | Trusted by 5M+ drivers Is the Black Optics package worth it?
If you like the offered features enough, then the Black Optics package is worth it—we’re talking about aesthetic touches to a luxury car. And to be honest, if you’re looking at buying a new Q5 that’s eligible for the Black Optics Package, you’re not likely to be sweating over paying a little extra.
The cheapest way to get this package is to add it to the Premium Plus 45 configuration. Even though the package itself is cheaper with the 55 powertrain, you’re looking at a price jump of ten grand to get there. But as we said, you’re buying an Audi—treat yourself!
Premium Plus vs Prestige
Let’s do a little comparison of the two trims that you can get the Black Optics package on. As a side note, the base level Premium trim is far from spartan with leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power liftgate, and more. You just can’t get those shiny black accents added to it.
The mid-level Premium Plus trim includes all the features of the Premium, as well as the Convenience Package which features a heated steering wheel, a memory driver’s seat, power folding windows, and satellite radio. The additional upgrades of the Premium Plus trim include:
Simulated leather interior trim
Bang & Olufsen sound system
Power-adjustable steering wheel
Traffic jam assist and Lane keeping assistance
Other upgrades you can get at this level are the Warm Weather Package (ventilated sport seats and rear window shades) and navigation and connectivity enhancements.
At the top Prestige trim level, you get all these goodies, plus the Warm Weather Package. But that’s far from the end of it. With this trim level, you’ll be treated to lavish features like:
Heated and cooled front cup holders
Interior ambient lighting
Automated parking assistance
Acoustically insulated front windows for an ultra-quiet ride
The bottom line
If you want to make your Audi Q5 even more eye-catching, adding the Black Optics Package is probably worth it. This kind of vehicle isn’t really one you look at if you’re aiming to bargain shop. But if the minor exterior details aren’t appealing to you (or you don’t care), you might want to spend that coin on some other cool add-on or package that does pique your interest.
