There are eight two-door models with a smaller 17.5-gallon tank, three hybrid options with a 17.2-gallon tank, and a diesel variant sporting a 21.2-gallon fuel tank.
How to check your Jeep Wrangler’s gas tank size
If you’re still confused as to how big your Wrangler’s gas tank is, you can find out for yourself using a few different methods.
Measure the gas tank
The first method is how they did it back in caveman times: with a measuring stick.
All you have to do to find out how many gallons of gasoline your fuel tank holds is to measure the tank's length, width, and height in inches, multiply those numbers together, and divide by 231, which is the number of cubic inches in a gallon.
So, for example, if your tank measures 13 inches in width, 15 inches in height, and 35 inches in length, your total fuel capacity would be 6,825 cubic inches. To convert that to gallons, simply divide that number by 231, and that will tell you how many gallons fit into your tank—in this case, 29.55 gallons.
Check your owner’s manual
The easiest way to find your vehicle’s gas tank capacity is just to simply look it up in your owner’s manual. To find this information, just search for terms like “fuel capacity” or “fuel tank” in the manual’s table of contents or index.
Drive till empty, then fill it up
Another way to get a rough estimate of your Wrangler’s fuel tank size is to drive until your fuel gauge is on “E”. Then, all you have to do is fill up your gas tank and take note of how many gallons you pumped into your Jeep.
