The best car insurance companies for Mitsubishi Mirage owners

Car insurance rates are highly personalized to the driver—insurance companies consider several factors when
calculating insurance premiums
, leading to variation between policyholders.
But when looking for Mitsubishi Mirage insurance, cost is just one factor to consider—you’ll also want to look at carrier ratings for things like claims handling and customer service.
To help you decide, Jerry surveyed over 18,000 real policyholders to determine the
best car insurance companies
. We asked policyholders about their experience with their current insurance provider, in regards to claims handling, cost effectiveness, and customer service.

How'd we get these scores?

Jerry's experts conducted one of the largest car insurance surveys in the United States. We surveyed 15,000 policyholders, in all 50 states, over the span of 18 months. These policyholders hold insurance policies with 87 different insurance companies. We surveyed policyholders to gauge their satisfaction with their insurance carriers in: policy cost, customer service, buying and renewal experience, as well as claim experience. These scores were all reported by real customers of the insurance companies.

How much car insurance do you need for a Mitsubishi Mirage?

Car insurance requirements will vary based on where you live, but regardless of location, state laws require all drivers to purchase coverage that meets or exceeds their state's
minimum coverage car insurance
requirements.
CarAverage Full Coverage Insurance CostAverage State Minimum Insurance Cost
Mitsubishi Mirage
$195
$98
Coverage is broken down into two options:
  • Minimum coverage insurance
is the minimum amount of liability insurance you can purchase to legally drive in your state. It consists of
    bodily injury
    liability and
    property damage
liability insurance to cover any injuries or damages you cause in an accident.
  • Full coverage insurance
provides financial protection for damages after a crash. This type of policy generally includes liability insurance, along with
    collision
    and
    comprehensive
coverage to pay for collision and non-collision related damages (i.e. theft, vandalism, severe weather).
Depending on your state, you may also be required to purchase
personal injury protection (PIP)
or
medical payments (MedPay)
to cover injuries for yourself and your passengers.
If you loan or lease your vehicle, your lender may require you to purchase collision and comprehensive coverage for the duration of your auto loan or lease. You’ll also need a full coverage policy if you add additional coverages, such as roadside assistance or accident forgiveness.

Why are some trims more expensive to insure than others?

Higher trim levels have a higher Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) and more costly features to repair or replace, making them a higher risk to insurance companies.

Are Mitsubishi Mirages expensive to insure?

The average cost to insure a Mitsubishi Mirage is about $98 monthly for minimum coverage, but remember—that’s just the average rate. How much you’ll pay to insure your Mirage depends on your driving profile and insurance provider. For example, an older, base-level Mirage will cost less to insure than a 2022 top-tier trim Mirage.

Why are similar cars more or less expensive to insure? When calculating insurance premiums, insurers look at the MSRP, trim level, safety ratings, stability control, and model year to determine how much you’ll pay. Newer and more expensive models usually have higher insurance costs than older, cheaper models, regardless of vehicle make.

What other factors affect Mitsubishi Mirage insurance rates?

In addition to vehicle-specific factors, insurers also look at other driver-specific factors when calculating premiums, such as:
  • Driver age: Drivers under 25 pay some of the highest insurance rates of any age group due to a lack of driving experience, leading to a higher road risk. Similarly, drivers over 75 pay higher rates due to age-related factors that increase accident risk and vulnerability to injuries.
  • Driving and claims history: A history of accidents and violations tells insurers you’re a high-risk driver, which increases insurance rates regardless of what vehicle you drive. Drivers with a clean driving record will be rewarded with lower rates.
  • Zip code: Different areas within a city are subject to unique factors that influence car insurance rates, such as traffic patterns and crime activity.
  • Mileage: The more you drive, the higher the risk of being involved in an accident and the more you’ll pay to insure your Mirage.
  • Credit score: Many insurance companies use credit-based insurance scores to calculate premiums. Drivers with good or excellent credit scores are rewarded with lower rates than drivers with poor credit scores.

Mitsubishi Mirage insurance cost for young drivers

Teen drivers
aged 16 to 19 and new drivers face some of the highest car insurance rates of any age group due to limited driving experience. After 25, rates steadily start to decrease as driving experience increases.
Although minimal coverage is often the cheapest option for young and new drivers, a full-coverage policy with comprehensive and collision coverage offers greater financial protection in the event of an accident.
Using the Jerry app, teens can compare quotes across multiple providers to find the most affordable rate without sacrificing coverage.

Mitsubishi Mirage insurance cost for senior drivers

Middle-aged drivers enjoy some of the lowest rates on car insurance, but as they enter their 70s,
car insurance rates for seniors
start to trend higher due to slow reflexes that increase the risk of accidents. Seniors are also more vulnerable to severe injuries following a collision, which increases their risk as policyholders.
Luckily, seniors can still find affordable car insurance rates using the Jerry app.

Mitsubishi Mirage insurance cost for drivers with driving violations

Your driving history has one of the biggest impacts on auto insurance rates. A history of accidents and violations signals to insurers you’re a high-risk driver; the higher your risk as a policyholder, the higher rates you’ll pay to insure your car.
Some common violations that can lead to high insurance rates include:

Cheapest car insurance for Mitsubishi Mirage drivers with speeding ticket

While a speeding ticket will increase your car insurance rates, the degree to which you see your rates climb will depend on how fast you were driving. For example, a ticket for going 5 mph over the posted limit won’t have as serious repercussions as going 20 mph over the limit.
If you’ve been cited for speeding, Jerry can help you find affordable car insurance rates for your Mitsubishi Mirage.

How can I lower the cost of insurance for my car?

Finding affordable insurance is never easy, so we’ve compiled a list of tips to help reduce your car insurance premium and save:
  • Shop around: Never settle for the first quote you get. Every insurance company uses a different algorithm to calculate insurance rates, meaning rates will differ between providers. Before choosing a policy, shop around and compare quotes from at least three different insurance providers—and
shop for a new car insurance rate every six months
    !
  • Increase your deductible: Your
    car insurance deductible
is the amount you must pay out-of-pocket before your collision or comprehensive coverage kicks in. Increasing your deductible to the highest amount you can reasonably afford will help to keep your monthly payments as low as possible.
  • Reduce your coverage: If you have an older vehicle worth less than 10 times the premium you’re paying,
    drop full coverage
    to save money.
  • Ask about discounts:
    Car insurance discounts
are a simple way to save. All insurance companies offer discounts, but what’s available will vary based on your location, the provider, and eligibility. Some popular discounts include safe driver/good driver discounts, student discounts, and safety discounts for cars with added features (i.e. anti-theft devices, airbags, and anti-lock brakes).
  • Bundle your insurance policies:
Bundling your auto and homeowners insurance
(or renters and auto) with the same insurance company can help you save on both premiums.

Methodology

The Insurance Research Team analyzes insurance products and services to drive insights and help consumers make informed purchase decisions.
Insurance research: We analyzed over 25 million car insurance quotes; conducted the largest insurance shopping survey (over 15,000 customers surveyed and 85 carriers reviewed in the past 18 months).
We surveyed insurance policyholders for their experience with their insurers in the following areas: (1) insurance cost (2) customer service (3) insurance buying experience (4) insurance renewal experience (5) claim experience. In addition, we asked people what they like about their insurers and what areas in which their insurers could improve. The driver characteristics used in calculating average rates for auto insurance include: single driver, single car, currently insured, clean driving record.
For the quotes and sold policies included in this article, please note that personal information has been hidden. Not all customers find savings.
Team: The team consists of licensed insurance agents, insurance industry veterans, and data scientists.
