background
Sporting a 268-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a stylish and spacious cabin, the Infiniti QX50 is the automaker’s cheapest offering within its extensive lineup.
Infiniti
is the luxury vehicle division of
Nissan
, established to compete with its European counterparts without the extravagant price tag. If you’re looking for a luxury vehicle without breaking the bank, an Infiniti is an attractive option.
The Infiniti QX50 is the most affordable offering, but how does it match up to other vehicles in Infiniti’s lineup? Here’s a guide to help you find a cheap Infiniti!

The QX50 is the cheapest Infiniti you can buy

The base Infiniti QX50 has a starting MSRP of $41,495 for the 2023 model year, making the Infiniti QX50 the cheapest model offered by the Japanese automaker.
While the QX50 offers a stylish interior and exterior, a spacious cabin, and a smooth ride, this luxury crossover SUV is the cheapest offering for a reason. For one, this relatively budget-friendly Infiniti is powered by a lackluster variable-compression turbocharged four-cylinder, producing disappointing performance and failing to deliver the promised fuel economy. However, the QX50 is still a popular choice thanks to its focus on comfort, giving drivers and passengers a smooth ride and quiet cabin.
Although the base QX50 is the cheapest thanks to its minimum standard equipment, upgrading to higher trims will quickly add more features and dollars to the price tag. Here’s how the starting MSRPs for the five 2023 trim levels compare:
  • Infiniti QX50 Pure: $41,495
  • Infiniti QX50 Sport: $49,695
  • Infiniti QX50 Sensory: $53,995
  • Infiniti QX50 Autograph: $58,454

How much cheaper is the Infiniti QX50?

While the QX50 is the cheapest when it comes to the base model, getting the highest trim level will bring this crossover to over $10,000 more costly than the next cheapest Infiniti. Here are the rest of the starting prices for the automaker’s other models:
Infiniti doesn’t have any upcoming new models that would rival the QX50’s price tag, so it continues to top the ranks as Infiniti’s most affordable offering.

How to find an affordable Infiniti

Infiniti vehicles are categorized in the luxury category and will carry a higher price tag compared to other comparable mainstream offerings. The disparity will become more apparent with the rise of new vehicle costs thanks to supply chain shortages. Here are some tips to avoid overpaying for your Infiniti:
  • Pick the base model. The QX50 Autograph may be alluring with all the bells and whistles, but it will also cost you over $10,000 more than the base Pure model. If you can live without all the premium features, the base model would save you a significant amount.
  • Forego ‘nice-to-have’ upgrades. While some upgrades, like the all-wheel-drive transmission, are essential, niceties like the remote engine start probably aren’t as important. Leaving out extra options and packages can be difficult but it will keep costs low (and help you save on Infiniti insurance costs, too!).
  • Get a used car. The newest models will often cost the most (duh!). Opting for a model year that is a few years older is a great way to get the QX50 at an even more modest price without being too dated. For example, a 2020 Infiniti QX50 Pure can cost around $24,000 on Edmunds.
  • Look for dealer incentives. Before you make your purchase, try finding special deals and financing offers from your local or surrounding dealers. Qualifying for lower interest rates can make a huge difference to your final payment amount.

If you’re only considering an Infiniti, the QX50 is your cheapest option. However, if you’re open to similar luxury crossover SUVs in a similar price range, here are a few alternatives for you to consider:
  • Acura RDX
: Starting at $42,745 for 2023, the Acura RDX is another affordable luxury SUV that's fun to drive and well-equipped even at the base trim level. Although slightly more expensive, the RDX delivers a better driving experience than the QX50.
  • Mercedes-Benz GLC 300
: The 2022 GLC comes out to be more expensive at $44,900 but is still an affordable luxury option. This GLC-class compact crossover is luxurious to drive but some may find the smaller cargo space impractical for their needs.
  • Audi Q5
: $45,395 is the MSRP for the base Audi Q5. The higher price point is thanks to the plethora of standard tech features and premium build quality. However, some may find that the driving dynamics are lacking.
  • Lexus NX 300
: The Lexus NX 300 is one of the most affordable luxury crossovers with an MSRP of $39,755 for the base trim. Not only is the interior upscale and spacious, but it also comes with a suite of standard tech features.
  • Volvo XC60
: The Volvo XC60 is elegant with its Scandinavian styling and premium cabin build. The four-cylinder engine is also efficient for gas-conscious drivers. You can get this luxury SUV for $44,545.
  • Cadillac XT5
: The Cadillac XT5 comes in at $45,540 for the base trim. For family-oriented drivers, this is a great choice with ample cargo storage, a comfortable and quiet cabin, and handsome looks.
