Cadillac’s smallest (and cheapest!) SUV is the XT4, which debuted in 2019 as the second installment of the brand’s XT SUV offerings.
It may be small, but the XT4 is more than just the Escalade’s tiny shadow. With 63.21 inches of height and 181.1 inches of length, the 2022 XT4 is one of the more spacious choices in it is class. For a subcompact SUV, the XT4 boasts 22.5 cubic feet of space—or 48.9 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.
The XT4’s fuel economy sits around average with an estimated 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, though the all-wheel drive options will drop that slightly lower. The handling and acceleration of the XT4 don’t hold a candle to the major rivals, but its 235-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine should be more than enough power for most drivers.
When it comes to features, though, the XT4 doesn’t hold back. It comes standard with a stacked infotainment suite that includes satellite radio, Bluetooth, Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, four USB ports, and a WiFi hot spot. The interior looks smart and modern with a decent amount of comfort and space, especially in the front seats. The XT6 is, of course, the larger version of the XT5, bridging the gap between the smaller options and the big, bad Escalade—for size, quality, and price. The three-row XT6 stands apart from its smaller counterparts with a more distinctive exterior—and its interior is decidedly more premier, too.
The XT6 comes set with a 237-hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine, but you can opt for a naturally aspirated 310-hp V6 with either front- or all-wheel drive. With tons of tech features and a fair amount of standard driver-assistance features, even the base Luxury trim is well-equipped.
While it’s a step up from the smaller XT models, the XT6 fails to live up to Cadillac’s reputation for energetic and high-end vehicles.
The best alternatives to Cadillac’s smallest SUV

Spunky and swanky: 2022 Audi Q3

keeps it compact as the automaker’s smallest SUV, but it doesn’t slack on finesse like the XT4 seems to. With a comparable $37,595 starting price, the Audi delivers on the lively driving experience and classy styling consistent with the German brand. Fitted with a turbocharged four-cylinder making up to 228-hp, the Q3 isn’t as quick as some high-powered rivals, but the bigger engine has a suitable amount of power for any kind of driving you’ll be doing—especially with standard Quattro all-wheel drive. The fuel economy is average for this class with an estimated 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
As far as the interior goes, the 2022 Q3 is clean and chic with standard leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, and high-quality materials throughout. The infotainment suite is well-equipped and intuitive, and there are plenty of standard driver-assistance features, too. As a small SUV, the Q3 is predictably short on space, but there’s still 48 cubic feet of storage space with the rear seats down.
Overall, the Audi Q3 has all the benefits of the Cadillac XT4 with few of the same drawbacks.

While the standard four-cylinder engine doesn’t exactly thrill, the optional turbocharged engine makes sure your driving experience is just as capable as it is agile.
Just like its high-end peers, the 2022 CX-30 is fitted with standard all-wheel drive and a good amount of tech, including infotainment and driver-assistance features. With eight trims to decide between, you have ample room to customize your CX-30 to be even more opulent.

Even as a lower-market brand, the high-ranking
