Tips for low-credit Jeep financing

Jeep’s First Time Buyer program aims to get all eligible drivers out on the road in a new Jeep, no matter their credit score.
If you have poor credit or no credit at all, follow the tips below for ways to reduce your car buying costs and qualify for the financing you need.

Pick a vehicle you can afford

It may sound obvious, but we all need reminders! Consider using a car loan payment calculator to get a better sense of which Jeep models you can afford based on your income and credit score.
And don’t just look at new models! Consider buying a used car to
minimize your monthly car payment
. Your local Jeep dealership should have a solid lineup of used vehicles to peruse. If you’re worried about reliability, buy a certified pre-owned vehicle with low mileage.

Compare loan offers from multiple lenders

In-house financing through a car dealership
is convenient, but unless you score a first-time buyer special, you’ll probably pay a higher rate than if you go with a third-party lender. We recommend comparing loan offers from your bank or local credit union. Bring evidence of your pre-approved loan with you to the Jeep dealership.

Get help from a co-signer

No shame in asking for a little help! Ask a family member or friend with a solid credit score to co-sign your loan application. This will boost your odds of being approved for a loan. Down the line, once you build up enough credit or improve your credit score, you can easily
remove the co-signer
from your loan and refinance for a better rate.

Save for a down payment

If you have the luxury of time on your hands, take it. Consider putting off purchasing that snazzy new ride until you’ve saved up enough money for a solid
down payment
. Waiting will also allow you to improve your credit score, which will qualify you for a better rate.

The most important thing is to find the right Jeep vehicle for you. Narrowing down Jeep’s impressive lineup can feel like an impossible task, but don’t worry, we’re here to help. Here are our favorite Jeep picks for first-time buyers:
  • Jeep Renegade
: Jeep’s entry-level compact crossover and the smallest SUV in Jeep’s lineup. It’s affordable, gets good gas mileage, and has a starting MSRP of $31,590.
  • Jeep Wrangler
: You know it, you love it. 2023 models start at $32,990. The Wrangler is easy to drive, relatively cheap to maintain, and comes with swag to spare.
  • Jeep Grand Cherokee
: The best-selling vehicle Jeep makes—for good reason. 2023 models start at $41,035 and come packed with safety, entertainment, and comfort features.
  • Jeep Compass
: A smaller alternative to the Cherokee, the Compass starts at $31,590 and is affordable, practical, and comes standard with all-wheel drive.
Call your local Jeep dealership to discuss financing options for any of these remarkable vehicles. Don’t forget to take your preferred Jeep out for a test drive to make sure it’s the one for you!
