  • Hyundai’s Convenience package is a good pick for buyers who are looking for a mix of aesthetic, safety, and convenience upgrades.

What is the Hyundai Tucson Convenience package?

Before we dive into the Convenience package for the SEL trim of the gasoline Tucson, it’s important to note that it is not the same as the
SEL Convenience
trim for the Hybrid Tucson.
The SEL Convenience trim is similar to the gasoline SEL with the Convenience package, with the main differences being that it’s a hybrid vehicle, has a higher MSRP, and comes with a few additional features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation.
Now that we’ve clarified that, let’s get into what’s included in the Convenience package for the SEL trim of the gasoline Tucson.

What’s included

The Convenience package adds nine aesthetic and convenience features:
  • 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Imitation leather-trimmed seats
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob
  • Ambient 10-color interior lighting
  • LED interior lights
  • Power sunroof
  • 10.25-inch digital instrument
  • Dual-zone automatic temperature
  • Auto-dimming rearview mirror
  • Ultrasonic rear occupant alert

What it does

The Convenience package adds convenience features, but also adds gives some subtle but classy appearance upgrades.
The package upgrades the SEL’s standard 17-inch wheels to 19-inch wheels. The major interior appearance upgrades include imitation leather-trimmed seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob—both of which are more durable, harder to stain, and easier to clean.
The SEL gets some luxury lighting upgrades with the Convenience package, including 10-color ambient interior lights in the upper center console and front door pockets and LED interior lights.
This package upgrades the SEL’s standard 4.2-inch gauge cluster to a 10.25-inch digital cluster. For a more comfortable ride, it also includes a power sunroof and dual-zone automatic temperature climate control.
Finally, you get a couple of safety upgrades. The auto-dimming rearview mirror dims the light reflecting from its surface to avoid visibility issues caused by rear traffic.
The ultrasonic rear occupant alert system alerts the driver via a horn honk, light flash, and smartphone notification if they are absent from the vehicle and movement is detected in the rear seats. This system is designed to prevent tragedies involving children being left in a car or locking themselves inside.

How much is a 2023 Tucson Convenience package?

The Convenience package is a $2,250 addition to the SEL’s MSRP of $28,300 (or $29,800 for all-wheel drive). Let’s take a look at how that compares to other trims.

Is the Convenience package worth it?

This package is a good pick for buyers who want a healthy mix of upgrades across departments. You’ll get an aesthetic, convenience, and safety boost all in one. The only department this package doesn’t touch on is performance.

SEL Convenience package vs. the Hybrid SEL Convenience trim

If you’re looking to get your hands on a hybrid vehicle, the 2023 SEL Convenience trim of the Hybrid Tucson is super similar to the gasoline SEL with the Convenience package.
Besides the obvious hybrid-gasoline difference, the Hybrid SEL Convenience trim differs mainly in its panoramic sunroof, standard all-wheel drive, a higher MSRP of $34,100, and an upgraded 10.25-inch touchscreen display (instead of an 8-inch).
The only feature in the SEL Convenience package that isn’t available for the Hybrid SEL Convenience trim is rear occupant alert. Aside from these differences, the Hybrid SEL Convenience comes standard with all the Convenience package features.

The bottom line

If you value variety, the Convenience is a good pick to gain a well-rounded collection of upgrades. If you’ve got a little bit of wiggle room in your budget, the Convenience package can make taking your Tucson easier on the eyes, safer, and more practical.
