With a fresh design from the previous year, the 2022
Toyota Sienna
entered the market flaunting a sleek, sexy appearance that more closely resembles an SUV than a minivan. Unlike the Pacifica, which offers both a gas-powered engine and a hybrid powertrain, the Sienna comes strictly as a hybrid.
Front-wheel drive comes standard on all models, with the option of all-wheel drive. And because of this, you’re getting around 36 mpg combined city/highway driving—an above-average fuel economy compared to other minivans.
The Sienna uses a 2.5-liter gasoline-powered four-cylinder engine and two electric motors with a combined 243 horsepower. If you choose AWD, you’re adding a third electric motor that drives the rear wheels. While acceleration may be slower than its top rival, the Chrysler Pacifica, the Sienna can reach 60 mph in just 7.7 seconds
Inside, you’ll find a modern and stylish cabin with plenty of cargo space. However, unlike the Pacifica, the second-row seats in the Sienna cannot be removed, but they can slide forward to accommodate more cargo in the rear.
Pros
Cons
Sleek and stylish exterior that looks like an SUV
Less practical interior
Smooth ride
Slow acceleration
Muscular body
Less cargo space than rivals

Electric range: 32 miles electric or 520 miles total
NHTSA overall safety rating: 5/5
With a roomy and tech-heavy cabin, great fuel efficiency, and a smooth ride, the 2022
Chrysler Pacifica
Hybrid is one of the top minivans in its class. It offers spacious seating for seven with various safety assist features and passenger infotainment.
Powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine and two electric motors (SiEVT main motor & generator motor) with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), the Pacifica boasts 260 horsepower, and, despite its heavy weight, it can get moving pretty quickly thanks to ample torque from the electric motors.
Unlike its gas-powered counterparts, the Pacifica Hybrid is quiet. The powertrain seamlessly switches between gas and electric, giving the van a smooth and refined drive
As for performance, the Pacifica can reach 32 miles on all-electric, and even when the gas engine kicks in, you’re still getting an excellent fuel economy of 30 mpg combined city/highway driving.
If you’re looking for maximum space and versatility, the Pacifica has all the features a minivan lover could want. Inside you’ll find an airy and spacious cabin loaded with ample storage space—cubbies, cupholders, slide-out bins, and serious connectivity. And one of the bonus features that Chrysler offers is the Stow 'n Go seats in both the second and third rows.

What insurance do you want to compare?

FAQ

Typically, yes—compared to vehicles of a similar size in a gas version, hybrids cost more to insure. Insurance companies know that people with hybrids save money on gas and tend to put on more mileage annually, so some of your fuel savings are eaten up by your car insurance.
Hybrids cost about 7% more to insure than their gas-powered counterparts. However, insurance rates will vary based on the make, model, year, and other factors.
