background
The 2022 Chrysler compact SUV line-up includes the Pacifica and the Pacifica Hybrid. With plenty of top-of-the-line touches and safety features, some say these models fit snugly between the SUV and minivan categories.
The company that pioneered the muscle car may not be known for its smaller models, especially not its compact SUVs, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have any players on the field. In 2022, Chrysler offers two compact SUVs—and even if those two aren’t exactly what you’re looking for, the manufacturer has a resumé that includes quite a few compact cars from previous years.
To help you find the best compact SUV for you, Jerry has put together this guide to all of Chrysler's current compact SUVs, and a few of their past offerings. Then, we’ll cover some of the ways

2022 Chrysler compact and subcompact SUV models

As of this year, there are only two Chrysler compact SUVs on the market.

2022 Chrysler Pacifica ($37,095 MSRP)

The 2022 Chrysler Pacifica is a hit among those looking for some middle ground between an SUV and a minivan. With plenty of room for cargo and passengers, an upscale interior, and available all-wheel drive, the Pacifica can take you and the whole family everywhere from morning commutes to rougher terrain.
But how does it rank among its competitors? That depends on who you ask. Car and Driver puts it at the top of its class, with a rating of 9.5 out of 10 and an Editor’s Choice recognition. Edmunds, on the other hand, gives it a slightly-less-glowing but still respectable rating of 7.9 out of 10, citing its low fuel efficiency and cramped second-row seats. J.D. Power places it fifth in its class, with a score of 70 out of 100
Highlights of the Pacifica include:
  • Optional all-wheel drive
  • 5-star safety rating from NHTSA
  • Top-of-the-line interior
  • Three rows of seats
  • Intuitive infotainment system
Weaknesses include:
  • Slow to accelerate
  • Cramped back seats
  • Lacking fuel efficiency

2022 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid ($46,978 MSRP)

While the Chrysler Pacifica held its own pretty well, Chrysler stepped it up a notch with the introduction of the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The plug-in addresses one of the problems many cite with the original: poor fuel economy.
It does this with the help of its 260-horsepower plug-in hybrid powertrain. Of course, this comes with the drawback of a higher price tag, and the hybrid version will set you back nearly $10,000 extra to start
It may be worth that extra price, though, according to experts. Edmunds gives the hybrid a rating of 8.2, higher than the rating they gave the original Pacifica. When it comes to J.D. Power and Car and Drivers ratings, though, the hybrid gets the same numbers, with 70 out of 100 and 9.5 out of 10 from each source, respectively.
Highlights of the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid include:
  • All-electric driving range of 32 miles
  • Modern and sleek interior design
  • 10.1-inch touch-screen infotainment system running Uconnect 5 software
Weaknesses include:
  • Low reliability score
  • Family-friendly styling doesn’t scream “tough SUV”

Other small Chrysler models

If you’re looking for a new Chrysler, you may have some trouble finding a compact model. That’s because Chrysler only currently offers three models in its lineup: the Pacifica,
Voyager
, and the
Chrysler 300
. While the 300 is the smallest of these, it’s still a full-size sedan. For compact cars, you can turn to some older Chryslers like these:
  • Crossfire
Coupe ($34,735 MSRP): This two-seat sports car was powered by a V6 engine that got up to 330 horsepower.
  • PT Cruiser
($18,275 MSRP): Last manufactured in 2010, the PT Cruiser was a retro wagon known for its cute and compact design, as well as shockingly spacious interior.
  • Neon ($13,800 MSRP): The Chrysler Neon’s second generation was introduced in the early 2000s, and was well known for reliability in its heyday.
  • Sebring
Coupe ($23,420 MSRP): While the Sebring was offered as both a sedan and a coupe, the latter was the more compact version of the sturdy model, last manufactured in 2004.
Chrysler made its reputation in the world of muscle cars, so if you’re looking for a compact, your options are limited.

What is Chrysler’s smallest car?

The Chrysler Pacifica is the smallest SUV sold this year by the brand, but it isn’t the smallest ever produced. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles owns several different automakers including Dodge, and that means that technically the smallest offering is the Dodge Caliber.
  • Chrysler Pacifica wheelbase: 121.6 inches
  • Dodge Caliber
    wheelbase: 103.7 inches
  • Chrysler Pacifica passenger volume: 165 cubic feet
  • Dodge Caliber passenger volume: 96.2 cubic feet

What is Chrysler’s cheapest car?

Out of all of its current offerings, the cheapest Chrysler you can buy new in 2022 is the Pacifica, which boasts a starting price of  $37,095—just barely below that of the Chrysler 300.
