2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim levels

What a redesign for the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee! Three powertrains including an all-new plug-in hybrid option, super comfy cabin space, and a truly modern suite of infotainment and driver assistance tech take the 2022 Grand Cherokee over the top to seriously great SUV territory.
Even in areas where it doesn’t shine, such as tight turns and storage space, the 2022 Grand Cherokee meets expectations. Sure, 37.7 cubic feet behind the second row isn’t a trunk to write home about, but it’s respectable. While the V8 engine’s 17 combined city/highway mpg is fairly dismal, the 22-mpg combined score of the standard V6 is above average for the class. And when it comes to off-road chops, this brawny mid-size ute is pretty hard to beat.
But there isn’t just one 2022 Grand Cherokee. Between seven trim levels, three engines, two drivetrains, and tons of available packages and upgrades, there are at least 16
Jeep Grand Cherokee configurations
. Okay, if you really want to do the math, it’s closer to infinity.
But who wants to do math? We’re here to talk trims. Here they are.

Laredo (starting at $38,720)

The 2022 Grand Cherokee at its most basic is called the
Laredo
. But this starting trim level isn’t all that basic. Highlights include:
  • 17-inch wheels
  • Keyless entry and ignition
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Heated mirrors, roof rails, and LED headlights
Right from the beginning, the new Grand Cherokee is bristling with tech, from a digital instrument panel and 8.4-inch touchscreen to six individual USB ports and smartphone integration, to a powerful suite of driver aids including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, forward collision mitigation, and blind-spot monitoring
Packages:
  • Lux Tech I ($1,400 starting MSRP): Includes automatic wipers, wireless charging pad, power liftgate, remote start, heated steering wheel and front seats, 115V outlet
  • Trailer Tow Prep Group (B) ($695 starting MSRP): Includes trailer hitch zoom, Class IV receiver, full-size spare wheel and tire, rear load-leveling suspension, heavy-duty engine cooling

Altitude (starting at $43,430)

A short step up from the base Laredo trim is the Grand Cherokee Altitude. It’s quite close to the Laredo in terms of the vehicle’s bones, but it gets its name from a set of 20-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, plus:
  • Power liftgate
  • Leather-trimmed bucket seats
  • Heated steering wheel
Packages:
  • Luxury Tech Group I ($1,400 starting MSRP): Includes automatic wipers, wireless charging pad, power liftgate, remote start, heated steering wheel and front seats, 115V outlet

Limited (starting at $45,040)

A lot of experts call the mid-grade
Limited
trim level the 2022 Grand Cherokee’s sweet spot: it’s got just enough fun stuff to make for real excitement without breaking the bank on unnecessary upgrades. Judge for yourself based on the following highlights:
  • 18-inch wheels
  • Capri leather upholstery
  • Driver’s seat memory settings and power front passenger seat
  • Heated second-row seats
  • Tire pressure monitoring display
  • All the contents of Luxury Tech Group I, minus rain-sensing wipers and wireless charging pad

Grand Cherokee Limited off-road
, there’s a new driving mode available for 4WD models, which offers five settings of terrain-based driving capabilities

Trailhawk (starting at $54,630)

The
Trailhawk
is the outlier in the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim lineup. Instead of building directly on the previous trim level as a stepping stone to the next, the Trailhawk blazes its own trail as the ultimate off-road version of the Grand Cherokee. Here’s what that looks like:
  • Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires
  • Hill ascent and descent control
  • Electronic rear limited-slip differential
  • Electronically disconnecting stabilizer bar
  • Navigation system
It’s also a cooler-looking Grand Cherokee, thanks to a gloss black roof and leather upholstery with luxe accents. It’s also the lowest trim level available as a plug-in hybrid. But it’s the off-road capabilities that really make the Trailhawk shine—and drive up the price considerably.
Packages:
  • Luxury Tech Group III ($1,455 starting MSRP): Includes hands-free power liftgate, power tilt steering column, rain-sensitive windshield wipers, wireless charging pad, second-row window shades
  • ADV ProTech Group II ($2,235 starting MSRP): Includes intersection collision-assist system, night vision w/human and animal detection, ParkSense® front and rear parking assist, and surround-view camera system
  • Finishing Package by MOPAR® ($425 starting MSRP)
Key Specs
Engine
293-hp 3.6-liter V6, 357-hp 5.7-liter V8, or 375-hp 4xe hybrid
Drivetrain
4WD only
Ground clearance
11.3 inches
Max towing capacity
7,200 pounds (V8 only)

Overland (starting at $54,635)

For drivers who want some of the Trailhawk’s off-road chops mixed with some higher-end features, there’s the
Overland
trim. Building on the Limited trim, it adds:
  • 20-inch wheels
  • Front tow hooks
  • Hands-free power liftgate
  • Ambient cabin lighting
  • Panoramic sunroof
  • Nappa leather seats
  • Nine-speaker Alpine sound system
With 4WD (standard on all models with the optional V8 engine), the Overland adds adaptive air suspension and hill descent control, perfect for those off-road outings.
Packages:
  • Luxury Tech Group IV ($2,155 starting MSRP): Includes four-zone climate control, massaging front seatbacks, 12-way power-adjustable front seats with passenger seat memory, wireless charging pad
  • ADV ProTech Group III ($2,235 starting MSRP): Includes heads-up display, Active Driving Assist, map-in-cluster display, integrated off-road camera, highway assist system, night vision
  • Off Road Group ($1,095 starting MSRP): Includes all-terrain tires, electronic limited-slip rear differential, transfer case skid plate shield, front suspension skid plate, trail-rated badge
  • Trailer Tow Prep Group (B) ($695 starting MSRP)
  • Finishing Package by MOPAR® ($425 starting MSRP)
Key Specs
Engine
293-hp 3.6-liter V6, 357-hp 5.7-liter V8, or 375-hp 4xe hybrid
Drivetrain
RWD or 4WD
Ground clearance
10.9 inches
Max towing capacity
7,200 pounds (V8 only)

Summit (starting at $58,695)

Now we’re getting into true luxury SUV territory (with a price tag to match). The
Summit
, as its name suggests, approaches the top of the line for the 2022 Grand Cherokee, with standard features like:
  • Wood-accented steering wheel
  • Front-seat massaging seatbacks
  • Driver attention warnings
  • Automated parking
  • Active Driving Assist
  • Passenger seat memory
Four-zone automatic climate control and a 10.1-inch touchscreen round things out. But that’s not all—don’t forget the optional packages!
Packages:
  • Luxury Tech Group V ($275 starting MSRP): Includes wireless charging pad and second-row manual window shades
  • ADV ProTech Group IV ($2,235 starting MSRP): Includes heads-up display, rear-view auto-dimming digital display mirror, and night vision
  • High Altitude Package ($1,495 starting MSRP): Includes 20-inch gloss black painted aluminum wheels, gloss black exterior accents, painted door cladding, Continental brand tires
  • Trailer Tow Prep Group (B) ($695 starting MSRP)
  • Finishing Package by MOPAR® ($425 starting MSRP)
Key Specs
Engine
293-hp 3.6-liter V6, 357-hp 5.7-liter V8, or 375-hp 4xe hybrid

Summit Reserve (starting at $65,175)

  • 21-inch wheels
  • Palermo leather seats (including ventilated rear seats)
  • 19-speaker McIntosh premium sound system
  • Open-pore wood trim
  • 10.25-inch passenger touchscreen
The same packages are available on the Summit and the Summit Reserve for drivers who want to really max out their Grand Cherokee’s capabilities.

Max towing capacity
7,200 pounds (V8 only)

What’s the best 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim?

There’s no universal answer to this question since every driver has different needs. However, if you’re looking for a solid all-around SUV with great off-road capabilities and a good mix of luxury and budget-consciousness, go with the Limited trim. For serious off-road adventures, though, there’s no beating the Trailhawk

This app is great, but the customer service is even better! Not to mention convenient! My husband and I got the lowest rate (much lower than the rates I was finding online through my own searches), quickly, and pretty much all through text message! Thank you so much for a hassle free experience👍
