Best Car Insurance Companies in Kosciusko

Finding an insurance provider that offers the coverage you need at a price you can afford isn’t always easy.
That’s why Jerry conducted the nation’s most extensive insurance shopping survey—we wanted to determine which company offers the lowest rates in Mississippi.
We spoke to more than 15,000 policyholders in 50 states about 87 insurance providers—and the results were clear: There is (unfortunately) no singular “cheapest” insurance company that can offer universally low rates to everyone.
For example, even though
Travelers
is consistently considered one of the cheapest insurers in the country, Mississippi drivers only rated it a 4/5 when it came to policy costs.
Mississippi drivers gave these insurers high ratings for their policy costs:

Do you need more than minimum coverage in Kosciusko?

If you find yourself at fault in a serious accident, the state's minimum coverage may not be sufficient to cover the costs of medical expenses or property damage to other drivers.
Once your insurance limits have been reached, your provider won’t contribute further support for accident-related expenses—which means you could be stuck paying out-of-pocket to cover any remaining costs.
Moreover, basic liability insurance won’t extend any type of coverage to your own medical costs or vehicle repairs.
That’s why it’s recommended to purchase higher amounts of coverage and add-on coverages like
comprehensive
and
collision coverage
to ensure adequate protection for yourself and other drivers.

Cheap full coverage car insurance quotes in Kosciusko

A
full-coverage car insurance policy
is the best choice to safeguard yourself from expenses associated with vehicle repairs or replacements.
Full coverage policies typically include comprehensive and collision coverage and your state’s insurance minimums.
  • Comprehensive coverage handles the cost of non-collision incidents—like theft or vandalism
  • Collision coverage covers repairs to your vehicle after an accident
If you lease or finance your vehicle, your lender may even require you to carry these additional coverages for the duration of your loan.
Although a full-coverage premium may cost more upfront, the extra peace of mind may be worth the additional cost. Jerry’s agents have assisted customers in finding the most affordable full-coverage policies.

Average cost of car insurance in Kosciusko

Jerry's experience with Kosciusko policyholders shows that the average cost of minimum liability insurance is around $89 per month, or $1,068 per year. On the other hand, full coverage insurance costs an average of approximately $1,796 per year, or around $150 per month.
While averages can generally estimate your insurance costs, remember that each driver's premium is calculated based on individual factors such as demographics, driving history, eligibility for discounts, and other variables.

Car insurance quotes in Kosciusko by rating factors

Car insurance companies consider several rating factors when
calculating your insurance premium
. Rating factors are based on risk-related characteristics and can include:
  • Your driving record and claims history: Drivers with a history of accidents or violations often face higher premiums.
  • Your demographics: Age, gender, and marital status can impact the cost of your insurance.
  • Your location: City dwellers often face higher premiums due to elevated crime rates and higher population density.
  • Your mileage: A higher annual mileage can lead to increased insurance costs.
  • The make and model of your car: Luxury and high-performance vehicles typically have higher rates for collision and comprehensive coverage.
  • Your credit score: Good credit scores are typically associated with lower insurance rates, even for identical coverage.
How much emphasis an insurer places on these factors when calculating your insurance premium varies between carriers, so it pays to shop around and find the best rate for your driving profile.

How do different factors impact your car insurance costs in Kosciusko?

Cheap car insurance quotes in Kosciusko by age

Teen drivers in Kosciusko pay more than any other age group in the state for car insurance coverage, although drivers over 70 may also notice their rates increasing.

Cheapest car insurance in Kosciusko for young drivers

Insurance rates for new drivers
are some of the highest in Kosciusko—and Mississippi as a whole—due to limited driving history and heightened risk of collisions.
You may notice rates are lower when a teen still has their
Mississippi learner’s permit
—this reflects that new drivers are operating a vehicle under supervision while they have their permit.
Still, new drivers’ rates will increase once permitted to drive unsupervised. The good news is that these steep rates tend to drop off as drivers reach the age of 25.
For drivers new to the road, a full coverage policy is the safest way to send them off. Jerry can assist teenage drivers in Kosciusko to find the cheapest option for full-coverage policies.

Cheapest car insurance in Kosciusko for senior drivers

Like teenage drivers, insurance agencies also perceive senior drivers as a higher risk.
This is because senior drivers are more prone to car accidents than other age groups, which often result in more severe injuries and higher medical expenses. As a result,
insurance for senior drivers
tends to be higher than the national average.

Cheap car insurance quotes in Kosciusko based on insurance history

A history of claims can mark you as high-risk to insurance providers—and so can your insurance history.
How long you have been insured and whether or not you’ve had any
lapses in coverage
are important indicators to insurance companies about the type of customer you’re likely to be. That’s why drivers with a limited insurance history or a past lapse in coverage usually face higher costs for car insurance.
At Jerry, we recognize the importance of timely insurance payments and avoiding coverage gaps. That's why we offer payment reminders to eligible customers, ensuring you stay on top of your insurance responsibilities and maintain uninterrupted coverage.
We have assisted many Kosciusko customers without current insurance or past coverage lapses to find savings on a new policy.

Cheap car insurance quotes in Kosciusko for drivers with poor credit

Bad credit doesn’t necessarily make you a bad driver—but you could still wind up with higher insurance rates. That’s because insurers have observed a correlation between poor credit scores and more frequent claim filing.
As a result, having a lower credit score can equate to higher annual premiums. Our data indicate that drivers with poor credit scores (below 550) generally experience approximately 20% higher car insurance rates than those above 750.

How to lower car insurance costs in Kosciusko

1. Shop around and compare quotes

You won’t know you’ve found the best deal without comparing auto insurance quotes. Try to
shop for car insurance quotes
with at least three different providers every six months.
If you want to comparison shop in minutes with just a few taps, download Jerry. You’ll receive the most competitive quotes in Kosciusko that’ll take the guesswork out of your hunt for cheap rates.

 2. Hunt for car insurance discounts

A great
car insurance discount
is the difference between dreading your monthly bills and… well, not celebrating them, but maybe tolerating them. Take a look at these programs to lower your rates:
  • Good driver discounts: You're due for some savings if you've held a
    clean driving record
    for at least three years.
  • Telematics device discounts: Telematics devices reward calm and mellow driving habits over hard braking and speeding.
  • Good student discounts: College and high school students with a B average or better can save money on car insurance.
  • Insurance bundle discounts: You could save money if you
bundle your home and auto insurance
    products from the same provider.

3. Increase your deductible for comprehensive and collision coverage

Increasing your deductible is an easy way to reduce your monthly payment without sacrificing coverage.

FAQ

Nationwide and The General earned excellent ratings for policy cost satisfaction among Mississippi drivers in a recent Jerry survey. State Farm and USAA may also offer cheap rates for some driver profiles.
For minimum coverage, the average Mississippi driver can expect to pay about $59 per month, or $712 per year. By comparison, a full coverage policy costs about $147 per month or $1,761 per year for the average driver.
There’s no “best” company for every single Mississippi driver, but we can tell you which companies ranked highest for different criteria. On cost satisfaction alone, Nationwide, State Farm, and The General ranked the best. For customer service, Bristol West and Safeco stood out. For the policy-buying process, Nationwide, Safeco, and State Auto ranked highly.
All MS drivers must carry 25/50/25 in liability coverage. This means $25,000 in bodily injury per person, $50,000 in bodily injury per accident, and $25,000 property damage. You can exceed these limits (and experts recommend it), but you’re legal to drive if you have a policy with at least 25/50/25 liability coverage.
“No pay, no play” is a law that prevents you from suing for certain damages if you were uninsured at the time of the accident. For instance, such a law might dictate that uninsured drivers may only collect economic damages and may not sue for things like pain and suffering. There is no such law currently in effect in Mississippi, although a bill was put forward in 2015 that died in committee.

Methodology

The Insurance Research Team analyzes insurance products and services to drive insights and help consumers make informed purchase decisions.
Insurance research: We analyzed over 25 million car insurance quotes; conducted the largest insurance shopping survey (over 15,000 customers surveyed and 85 carriers reviewed in the past 18 months).
We surveyed insurance policyholders for their experience with their insurers in the following areas: (1) insurance cost (2) customer service (3) insurance buying experience (4) insurance renewal experience (5) claim experience. In addition, we asked people what they like about their insurers and what areas in which their insurers could improve. The driver characteristics used in calculating average rates for auto insurance include: single driver, single car, currently insured, clean driving record.
For the quotes and sold policies included in this article, please note that personal information has been hidden. Not all customers find savings.
