How much does Nissan car insurance cost?

Originally known as Datsun in the U.S., Nissan has been producing quality cars for decades. Known for its innovation, Nissan produces vehicles ranging from sedans and sports cars to SUVs and electric vehicles.
On average, Nissan owners pay $1,176 for
car insurance
annually. But that’s just an average—every Nissan driver is unique, and every Nissan car insurance policy will differ from driver to driver.
There is no “average”
car insurance quote
that applies to everyone. The only way to truly understand how much your car insurance will cost is to compare car insurance quotes.

The best car insurance companies for Nissan drivers

As you’re
shopping for car insurance
, it’s vital that you search for a provider that’s right for you and your car.
Your optimal car insurance plan will depend on your driving record, age, location, and claims history. For that reason, there’s no single insurance provider that’s right for everyone. To help Nissan drivers save money and find the best rates, Jerry conducted the largest insurance survey in the country.
We asked real drivers to rate their insurance companies—from major insurers like GEICO and State Farm to small regional companies like PEMCO Mutual and North Carolina Farm Bureau—on price, claims experience, and customer service. Here’s what we found.

How'd we get these scores?

Jerry's experts conducted one of the largest car insurance surveys in the United States. We surveyed 15,000 policyholders, in all 50 states, over the span of 18 months. These policyholders hold insurance policies with 87 different insurance companies. We surveyed policyholders to gauge their satisfaction with their insurance carriers in: policy cost, customer service, buying and renewal experience, as well as claim experience. These scores were all reported by real customers of the insurance companies.

But don’t forget that your insurance rates are based on unique aspects of your driver profile. To find the most affordable premium, you’ll need to shop around and compare rates from many companies.

What factors affect Nissan car insurance rates?

There is a wide range of factors that affect how your Nissan
car insurance rate is calculated
  • Vehicle age: If you drive a newer Nissan, you’ll most likely see higher insurance costs.
  • Vehicle cost: Expensive cars, like the Nissan GT-R, have steeper insurance rates than cheaper options, like the Nissan Murano or the Nissan Leaf.
  • Parts cost: Insurance typically costs more for cars with expensive or difficult-to-acquire parts.
  • Your age: Drivers under 25 and over 75 pay the highest insurance premiums. If you’re within one of those age groups, you’ll likely pay inflated rates.
  • Your driving record and insurance claims history: You should expect to pay higher rates if you have a history of crashes or auto insurance claims.
  • Where you store your car: Leaving your car unsheltered outside exposes it to higher risks of damage due to theft, vandalism, or weather. This can result in increased insurance expenses.
Your Nissan car insurance rates may also depend on the following specific factors:
  • Imports: Many Nissans are produced in Japan. This can cause replacement costs to be higher than domestic vehicles.
  • Safety: Nissan vehicles get excellent safety ratings, which can help lower your insurance costs.
  • Reliability: Cars with great reliability scores, like Nissan, tend to have lower insurance costs.

Nissan insurance cost for young drivers

Out of all age groups, car insurance rates are the most expensive for
teen drivers
between 16 and 19. Because teens are statistically more likely to be involved in accidents, experts recommend full overage for teens who own their own cars.

Nissan insurance cost for senior drivers

Seniors over 75 pay the second-highest insurance premiums out of all age groups.
Car insurance rates for seniors
are high due to older drivers’ increased risk of being involved in an accident. Additionally, seniors are more likely to become severely injured in an accident, which can cause high medical bills and inflated insurance rates.

Nissan insurance cost for drivers with driving violations

Another prominent factor insurance companies consider when determining your rate is your driving record. For drivers with records free of violations and at-fault accidents, rates tend to be low. However, you’ll likely face steep rates if you have any of the following violations on your record:
  • Speeding tickets
  • DUIs
  • At-fault accidents
  • Reckless driving
  • Driving on a suspended license

Cheapest car insurance for Nissan drivers with a speeding ticket

While a single speeding ticket for one to five miles over the limit shouldn’t cause your rates to increase too much, multiple tickets or one criminal speeding ticket may cause your premiums to skyrocket. Jerry has proudly helped many Nissan drivers with speeding tickets find quality insurance coverage.

How can I lower the cost of my Nissan car insurance?

There is an array of methods you can use to lower your Nissan car insurance rates.
  • Compare rates: The best way to find quality coverage at affordable rates is to
    shop around for insurance coverage
. Jerry simplifies this process by providing you with free quotes from over 50 of the nation’s top insurance agencies.
  • Bundle your insurance plans: Another proven way to reduce your monthly bill is by
bundling your homeowners and auto insurance
    with the same company.
  • Participate in a telematics program: Telematics programs may track driving habits and reward safe drivers with lower rates. Many of the top insurance providers offer
    insurance discounts
for drivers who participate in telematics programs.
  • Raise your deductible: The deductible is the amount of money you must pay out of pocket before the insurance company will pay on a claim. Increasing your deductible is one way to reduce your rate.
  • Reduce your coverage: Older and less valuable vehicles don’t need as much coverage as expensive new models. If you drive an older Nissan, you may be able to save some cash by
    reducing your coverage
  • Purchase a used car: New cars tend to face steeper insurance rates than older used cars. Driving a used Nissan may be a solid way to cut down on your insurance expenses.

FAQs

A variety of factors can cause Nissan Altima car insurance to be high, including your driving record, your location, the age of your Altima, your age, and your insurance history. Additionally, if you own a higher trim level Altima, you will likely face increased insurance costs.
The Nissan Maxima is known for being a luxury-oriented sedan with sporty power. Those factors often result in inflated insurance rates. Additionally, studies show that the Nissan Maxima is a more frequent target of theft than other vehicles, resulting in increased insurance rates.
The best way to save money on your Nissan Altima insurance costs is to shop around and compare rates from many different companies. Jerry can help make that process simple. When you sign up with Jerry, we’ll compare rates from over 50 of today’s top companies to find the best coverage for you at the best price.
