How long does it take to complete the Geico defensive driving course?
I’ve heard I can get a discount on my car insurance if I take Geico’s defensive driving course. How long will it take for me to complete it?

It’s always great to save money on your car insurance, and taking a defensive driving course will pay off in the long run. In general, you can expect a
defensive driving course
to take around four to five hours. In some cases, the course may be longer, but the time spent could majorly benefit you on the
car insurance
front. Geico, like many other car insurance companies, offers a discount
if you complete a defensive driving course. They do not, however, offer a course for you to take. Instead, you’ll have to find one that is approved by your state. During a defensive driving course, you will develop knowledge around:
- Traffic laws
- Risk prevention strategies
- How to remain calm in dangerous situations
- How drugs and alcohol affect your ability to drive
In some states, the DMV will offer a defensive driving course. If that’s not the case in your state, you’ll need to take the course through a third party.
