How can I open a BMW top box?

I use my top box to store a lot of important things when I’m out on the road, but I just tried to open up my box, and it’s stuck! How can I get my BMW top box to open?

A top box is essential to your motorcycle, so thankfully, it’s fairly simple to open a BMW top box which is stuck. Here’s what to do:
  1. Think about the contents. Is there something in there that might have gotten in the way of the clamps? Is something preventing the box from opening?
  2. Release the handle. Remove it from the rack for the next step.
  3. Shake it around, assuming you have no delicate objects in your box. This should dislodge anything that might have gotten stuck in the clamps, allowing the latch to flip up just fine on your next try.
And that’s all you need to do!
