Where is the OBD port on a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

I just bought a cheap used Jeep Grand Cherokee but it needs a bit of work. I’d like to start by scanning for error codes, but I can’t find the data port! Can you tell me where the OBD port is on a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This might not be the simple answer you were looking for, but here goes:
The most likely location for the OBD port on a 1995
Jeep Grand Cherokee
is under the hood, connected to the wiring harness. We say likely because there are also some reports that it’s found in the cabin, underneath the dashboard.
What gives? Well, the OBD-II port that all cars have today wasn’t standardized until 1996. Vehicles made in 1994 had either OBD-I or EEC-IV ports, and 1995 was a transition year—meaning that it could have any of those three in a variety of locations.
Unfortunately, scanning for
OBD car codes
in your 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee may not be as easy as you were hoping. However, the hunt may get you more familiar with your Jeep—which will make tackling any at-home
car repairs
much easier, right?!
That said, don’t be scared to take your car to a mechanic to help you perform the diagnostics.
