A short history of Dodge ownership

Originally founded as Dodge Brothers Company in the early 1900s, Dodge operated under the "Dodge Brothers" brand in 1914 before being sold to Dillon, Read & Co. in 1925, followed by Chrysler in 1928. The 1973 oil embargo spelled trouble for Chrysler, but the development of the K Platform in 1981 was a big turning point for business in the 1980s.
Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, ownership of the Dodge brand changed hands multiple times under Chrysler, and the company eventually merged with Daimler-Benz AG in 1998. In the spring of 2007, DaimlerChrysler sold its Chrysler Group subsidiary, including Dodge, to Cerberus Capital Management
After filing for bankruptcy in 2009, Chrysler formed a partnership with Italian manufacturer
Fiat
in 2009 to form the new Chrysler Group LLC, of which Dodge was fully integrated. Chrysler LLC was fully merged with Fiat to produce Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FAC) in 2014, which merged with PSA Group under the now multinational automobile corporation, Stellantis.
