These policyholders hold insurance policies with 87 different insurance companies. We surveyed policyholders to gauge their satisfaction with their insurance carriers in: policy cost, customer service, buying and renewal experience, as well as claim experience. Are Chryslers more expensive to insure?

Compared to the average cost of other cars, Chryslers cost -- to insure.
However, insurance premiums are inherently variable and can fluctuate based on several factors. These factors include the specific model and its features, the driver's personal history and location, and the insurance company providing the policy.
High-performance or luxury Chrysler models, such as the Chrysler 300C with its powerful V8 engine, incur higher insurance costs due to costly repairs and replacements.
In any case, insuring a Chrysler does not come with a one-size-fits-all cost—so remember to shop around for the best insurance quotes based on your situation.

Cheapest Chryslers to insure

Among all Chrysler models, the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica offers the most affordable insurance rates. The average state minimum insurance costs for this model amount to $34 per month, while full coverage averages $159.
The Voyager and the base model Pacifica are among the most affordable Chryslers to insure. These minivans are family-friendly, meaning they are less likely to be driven recklessly and come equipped with a range of safety features like airbags, anti-lock brakes, and rearview cameras. As a result, insurance premiums for these models are typically lower.
Considering the availability and cost of parts is another important aspect in determining insurance premiums. Chrysler models with widely available and affordable parts, such as the Chrysler 200, may also offer more budget-friendly auto insurance rates.
In addition to excellent safety ratings and affordable repairs, several other factors contribute to lower insurance costs for Chryslers:
  • Smaller and less powerful engines: Vehicles with reduced power capabilities are generally viewed as lower risk by auto insurance companies, resulting in lower insurance rates.
  • Vehicle type: Certain Chrysler vehicle types, including family sedans and minivans, are associated with safe driving and lower accident risk, leading to lower insurance costs.
  • Anti-theft features: Chrysler vehicles equipped with anti-theft features provide added protection against theft, which can help lower insurance costs.
  • Vehicle value and replacement costs: Chrysler models typically offer competitive pricing and reasonable replacement costs, factors that contribute to more affordable insurance premiums.

Most expensive Chryslers to insure

At the other end of the spectrum, certain Chrysler models have higher insurance premiums. The 2014 Chrysler 300C stands as the most expensive Chrysler model to insure, with an average monthly premium of $196 for state minimum coverage and $251 for full coverage.

Here are the factors that can impact insurance rates for specific Chrysler models:
  • Enhanced performance and costly repairs: The Chrysler 300C boasts a powerful V8 engine and upscale amenities, making it a sought-after vehicle. However, these enhanced performance characteristics and the potential for costly repairs generally result in higher insurance premiums.
  • Advanced technology and theft appeal: Newer Chrysler models, such as the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, are equipped with advanced technology and unique features that promote convenience and efficiency. Unfortunately, these attributes also make the vehicles more appealing to thieves, leading to higher insurance costs.
  • Vintage or collectible vehicles: Limited-run vintage Chrysler models like the Prowler and the Crossfire SRT-6 may have more expensive insurance costs due to their exclusivity, unique features, and desirability among car collectors.
While these models carry higher insurance costs, it's important to consider that other factors, such as driving history, location, and personal details, also impact insurance rates.

What factors affect Chrysler car insurance rates?

When
calculating insurance rates
, several factors come into play that can affect the monthly premiums for Chrysler vehicles. Here are the key elements that influence Chrysler car insurance rates:
  • Model and trim level: Different models and trims have varying repair costs and safety ratings, which insurers take into account. A high-performance model, like the Chrysler 300C, may cost more to insure than a family-friendly minivan like the Pacifica.
  • Safety features: Chryslers equipped with advanced safety features can help lower insurance costs. Features like forward-collision warning, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking systems can reduce the risk of accidents, potentially quelling premiums.
  • Driver's age and driving record: Younger drivers and those with a history of traffic violations or accidents typically pay higher premiums due to the increased perceived risk.
  • Geographical location: Your location plays a part in determining your insurance rate. Areas with higher rates of theft or vandalism may lead to higher premiums. Similarly, living in urban areas with heavy traffic can also increase insurance costs.
  • Mileage: If you drive your Chrysler extensively, expect higher insurance rates. More miles on the road equate to a higher risk of accidents.
  • Vehicle age: The age of your Chrysler model can influence insurance rates as well. Typically, newer models tend to have higher insurance costs due to their higher value and lesser depreciation. As a result, they may require more coverage and have higher repair costs.

Chrysler insurance cost for young drivers

Young drivers, especially those under 25, often face higher car insurance premiums due to their limited driving experience.
Insuring a teen driver
on a Chrysler can be more expensive as a result.
The specific Chrysler model will, however, affect insurance costs. Safe vehicles like the Chrysler Pacifica, designated as a 2022-23 IIHS Top Safety Pick+, will generally have lower insurance costs compared to insuring a young driver on a high-performance vehicle such as the Chrysler 300C.
To alleviate the generally higher insurance costs faced by young Chrysler owners, many insurance companies offer discounts for young drivers who maintain good grades or complete a driver's education course. These discounts can provide valuable savings and make insurance more affordable for young drivers.

Chrysler insurance cost for senior drivers

Car insurance rates for senior drivers
tend to increase as they reach their mid-70s, mainly due to the perceived higher risk of accidents. However, some Chrysler models with advanced safety features and ease of driving, could help lower premiums.
Additionally, senior drivers can take advantage of discounts offered by insurance companies to further reduce their insurance expenses.Taking a defensive driving course, maintaining a clean driving record, or driving fewer miles each year are common ways for senior drivers to qualify for discounts and potentially reduce their Chrysler insurance costs.

Chrysler insurance cost for drivers with driving violations

Drivers with a history of traffic violations will likely face higher insurance premiums. Insurance companies view driving violations as an indicator of increased risk for future accidents. If you're a Chrysler driver with any of the following violations within the last three to five years, you may face higher premiums:
  • Speeding tickets
  • DUIs
  • Driving on a suspended license
  • Reckless driving
  • At-fault accidents
However, over time and as you maintain a violation-free history, insurers may gradually lower your rates. Some insurance companies also offer programs that help drivers with violations reduce their rates sooner, such as
defensive driving courses
.

Cheapest car insurance for Chrysler drivers with speeding ticket

If you're a Chrysler driver who has been slapped with a speeding ticket, you might experience an increase in your insurance premiums. Insurance companies perceive speeding as risky behavior that can eventually lead to accidents. While a ticket for speeding less than five miles an hour is unlikely to impact your rates significantly, a history of frequent tickets or a serious speeding violation can trigger higher premiums.

Fortunately, not all insurers treat speeding violations equally in terms of rate increases. Companies such as State Farm, GEICO, and Progressive are known for offering more lenient rates for drivers with speeding tickets.
Remember, maintaining a clean driving record moving forward and considering a defensive driving course can also help lower your rates over time, as it demonstrates a commitment to safe driving practices.

Cheapest car insurance for Chrysler drivers with a DUI record

Having
a DUI
on your driving record can have a significant impact on your car insurance rates, as insurers flag you as a high-risk driver. While many companies raise rates drastically after a DUI, there are insurers that specialize in providing coverage for high-risk drivers, such as The General. Some insurance companies may also offer a lower premium if you have completed a DUI education program or maintained a clean driving record for a certain period post-conviction.
To leave soaring rates behind, take control of your insurance rates post-DUI. You can conveniently browse free quotes and save money with Jerry’s expertise!

Cheapest car insurance for Chrysler drivers after an accident

Accidents, especially those where you're at fault, are likely to balloon your insurance rates. On the other hand, some insurers are more forgiving than others. Notable companies that offer accident forgiveness include Allstate, Progressive, and GEICO. Additionally, programs like Drive Safe & Save by State Farm can also help Chrysler drivers maintain more affordable rates after an accident.
Again, the key to finding affordable insurance after an accident is by shopping around. Your current insurer may significantly increase your rates, while another might offer a better deal—even with a mark on your driving record.

How can I lower the cost of my Chrysler car insurance?

Finding the best Chrysler car insurance coverage shouldn't leave you strapped for cash. Here are several ways to lower the cost of your Chrysler car insurance:
  • Shop around: When
    shopping for auto insurance
, compare quotes from a mix of providers so you can choose the best coverage at the lowest price.
  • Bundle your policies: Many insurance companies offer discounts if you bundle multiple insurance policies, like your
    auto and homeowners insurance
. This strategy not only simplifies your bills but can also lead to savings.
  • Maintain a clean driving record: Insurers reward safe driving. If you maintain a clean record free of traffic violations or accidents, your insurer will likely offer you lower premiums over time.
  • Increase your deductible: Opting for a higher deductible can significantly lower your premiums. However, remember that this means you'll need to pay more out of pocket if you file an insurance claim.
  • Use discounts: Most insurers offer
    car insurance discounts
, including those for good students, safe drivers, and cars equipped with safety features.
  • Consider usage-based insurance: If you don't drive your Chrysler a lot, consider a usage-based insurance policy or
    reducing your coverage
    .
  • Improve your credit score: In many states, insurers use your credit score to help determine your premiums. A higher credit score can help you score lower rates!

FAQs

In general, the insurance rates for Chrysler vehicles are typically in line with the national average. However, there are a few specific Chryslers that may have slightly higher auto insurance costs. These include:
  • 2023 Chrysler 300C: This high-performance brand-new car comes with a powerful engine, which can result in higher insurance premiums.
  • 2023 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid: As a plug-in hybrid minivan with advanced technology, the Pacifica Hybrid may have slightly higher insurance rates due to its unique and desirable features.
Additionally, vintage, rare, or limited-run classic Chrysler cars with high value and hard-to-find parts may also incur higher insurance costs—especially if you opt for specialized coverage like
classic car insurance
. Examples of such vehicles include:
  • Chrysler Imperial
  • Chrysler Town & Country Woodie
  • Chrysler New Yorker
Keep in mind that Chrysler insurance costs will vary based on the specific model and model year, the driver's age, driving record, location, and other factors. To find the best rates for your particular situation, it’s best to compare quotes from several companies.
Compared to the national average, insurance costs for Chrysler vehicles generally fall within the middle range. Some Chrysler models, however, may be cheaper to insure:
  • Chrysler PT Cruiser: This compact retro-styled vehicle can offer cheaper insurance due to its smaller size, lower horsepower, and affordable repair and replacement costs.
  • Chrysler 200: This popular midsize sedan may provide competitive insurance rates thanks to its availability of parts and reasonable repair costs.
  • Chrysler Pacifica: With its focus on safety features and family-oriented design, the Pacifica tends to have cheaper insurance rates compared to other minivans.
Chrysler offers a diverse range of vehicles, including sedans, SUVs, and minivans, each with unique characteristics that influence insurance premiums. Insurance companies also consider individual factors and provide personalized quotes based on your circumstances. To find the best rates, it’s best to shop around!
The Chrysler 300, being a full-size sedan with a powerful engine and high-end features, may be more expensive to insure than other Chrysler models. However, the exact cost of insurance depends on various factors, including the driver's age, driving record, and location, as well as the vehicle's specific trim and safety features.
The Chrysler Sebring, which was discontinued in 2010, generally has lower insurance costs compared to newer vehicles. However, the actual cost of auto insurance for a Chrysler Sebring can vary based on several factors, including:
  • Driver’s age and driving record
  • Where the vehicle is primarily driven
  • The insurance provider’s individual pricing policies and the driver’s chosen coverage options
For an accurate (and the most affordable) insurance quote, use Jerry to compare insurance information and rates across multiple insurers.
The Chrysler Crossfire, which was last produced in 2008, typically has lower insurance costs compared to newer vehicles due to factors such as depreciation and the availability of replacement parts.
Be that as it may, insurance rates for a Chrysler Crossfire can vary based on several factors. Insurance providers consider elements such as the driver's age, location, driving history, credit score, and coverage options chosen. To obtain an accurate cost, it's important to shop around and compare quotes.
The Chrysler Pacifica is a family-friendly minivan, which typically results in lower insurance costs compared to luxury or high-performance vehicles. Overall, the insurance costs for the Chrysler Pacifica are considered generally moderate compared to similar vehicles.
However, it's important to note that insurance rates can vary significantly depending on factors such as the driver's age, driving history, location, as well as the specific trim level and features of the vehicle.
