What is the best year for a used Subaru Forester XT?

I really like my brother’s Subaru Forester XT, so I’m thinking of copying him and getting a used one myself. I’m not sure what year he has, but I’m open to other model years as long as they’re reliable. What’s the best used Subaru Forester XT to get?

. The 2018 XT model has high ratings and reliability scores—plus, it has great safety ratings.
Some model years of the Forester XT to avoid are the 2009 and 2010 versions. They have higher repair costs on average due to blown head gaskets, while the 2009 version had 17 total recalls. If you end up considering these models, make sure you confirm that all the recall issues have been dealt with.
