Sorry to hear about your legal issues. Unfortunately, a reckless driving charge is often up to the discretion and judgment of the officer. However, the charge has a few definitions that require the officer to issue you a reckless driving ticket as opposed to other charges:
- Driving over 100 mph
- Drag racing
- Driving with wanton disregard for other drivers or their property
If you’re convicted of reckless driving, it’s far more serious than a speeding ticket. In New Hampshire, reckless driving is a misdemeanor that stays on your record indefinitely. You can also face penalties, including:
- A fine of at least $500 and a license suspension of no less than 60 days for the first offense
- A fine of no more than $1,000 and a license suspension of up to one year for your second offense
