I bought a used INFINITI G35 recently and am having trouble opening the fuel filler door to access the gas tank—how do you open the gas tank on an INFINITI G35?

Opening the gas tank on an
INFINITI G35
is pretty simple, but the process varies ever so slightly depending on which vehicle body style you have. To open an INFINITI G35’s gas tank, you’ll need to:- Unlock the fuel filler door by inserting your key into the door lock cylinder and turning clockwise twice, pressing the “UNLOCK” button on your keyfob once, or pushing the power door lock switch to the “UNLOCK” position.
- If you have the sedan body style, push in on the right side of the fuel filler door to open it—if you have the coupe body style, push in on the left side of the fuel filler door.
- Unscrew the fuel filler cap (it turns counterclockwise) and place it in the holder attached to the inside of the fuel filler door.
Once you’ve removed the fuel filler cap, insert the fuel nozzle into the gas tank pipe and start pumping gas. Keep in mind that the INFINITI G35 has a fuel tank capacity of exactly 20 gallons—which is larger than average—and requires premium unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 91 AKI.
After you have refueled, replace the fuel filler cap by turning it clockwise until it locks in place—you should hear an audible “click” when it’s properly secured. Firmly shut the fuel filler door to latch it.
