What is a Texas temporary liability insurance card?

I just moved to Texas and I was given this card by my insurance company. I'm worried about the "temporary" part. I purchased insurance, so I should be covered, right?

The temporary
liability car insurance
card is just a placeholder for the permanent one, which should be mailed to you.
If you have purchased a policy that meets the
state minimum requirements
for car insurance and your car is registered, then you can drive legally in
Texas
—even with your temporary card.
Reach out to your insurance company if you have not received your permanent card within a week or two.
If you have any doubt about whether or not you have insurance coverage, call to confirm. There are serious penalties for being caught
driving without insurance
(like hefty
fines
), not to mention the danger to you and your pocketbook.
