A new look for the Toyota Tacoma, a first in 20 years
Toyota has given the 2024 Tacoma a TNGA-F platform on-body frame like the Toyota Tundra.
An on-body frame means the car's skeleton is essentially the same as other vehicles, making swapping out the bodies easy and streamlining production. So virtually under the sleek designs, the vehicles are, in some ways, the same.
While this might not sound appealing to everyone, critics of the old-school Tacoma and other Toyota trucks can sigh in relief because it means the tech offerings are on par with the other Toyota vehicles.
This means they’ll finally have state-of-the-art infotainment options, navigation, and safety features.
The new Toyota Tacoma is also expected to finally have an upgraded powertrain (previously panned by critics) and come in a larger package than before.
While details on how fast it’ll charge and how many expected miles it can go between charging are currently unknown. It is expected to be an all-wheel drive mid-size truck with dual motors, possibly available also in hybrid.
The Toyota Tacoma’s current EV sibling and the 2024 horizon
The rest of their electric lineup contains fuel cell electric vehicles, hybrids, and plug-in hybrids. However, for 2024, Toyota has teased a design concept for a compact cruiser that’s been nicknamed the Baby FJ and an expected update of the Bz4x.
This leaves about 27 other vehicles for Toyota to introduce as fully EV by 2030.
