Called the “Ram Revolution”, this radical initiative could lead to some interesting features, and it might also win over some Ram traditionalists, who are reluctant to embrace the electrification of their beloved pickups.
The American truck maker has promised suggestions will be taken seriously, and it will also use Ram Revolution to keep members informed about the production status of the 1500 EV. Ram is hoping that a consumer-led approach will help its first electric pickup enjoy the same success as the
Ford F-150 Lightning, which has 200,000 pre-orders and rolls out soon.
How will Ram Revolution engage with fans?
Aside from accepting feedback through members’ forums,
MSNreports the launch of a Ram Real Talk Tour. This tour promises “a series of year-long conversations with consumers at various events to better understand what the next generation of Ram Trucks and Vans must do to meet their needs.”
Fans of the Ram brand, or anyone with a passing interest in electric car design, can sign up to join the
Ram Revolution. Dialogue will continue throughout 2022 and these crowd-sourced ideas will influence the design of the electric Ram 1500.
What do we know about the Ram 1500 BEV?
Ram has promised to “push past what competitors have announced…to deliver a fuller portfolio of technology with more range, power, productivity and convenience.”
The electric 1500 will use the STLA Frame EV platform, which offers a battery capacity of 101-118 kWh and 500 miles of range. Will it be good enough to compete with the likes of Tesla and Ford? Only time will tell, but consulting with the fans to ensure concerns are addressed before production begins seems to be a smart move.
Since splitting from Dodge almost 15 years ago, Ram has rarely put a foot wrong, and the 1500 BEV should have enough name recognition to ensure strong sales.
But no Ram is worth the cash without the right
