Concept cars are the innovative force behind
car technology. While these concept cars can produce some
features that seem like science fiction, they rarely ever make it to a showroom near you.
Nonetheless, concept cars are just plain cool. Sure, we may never be able to test drive them, but they are exciting nonetheless. Plus, you'll never have to worry about
insurance rates with concept cars. In the new emerging market of electric vehicles, there have been some exciting concept EVs that are worth a closer look.
The Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX
Mercedes has been a little slow to get into the EV market, but they have recently made a major pivot to achieve a fully electric lineup in the near future. Part of that transition requires building some concept cars, one of which being the Mercedes-Benz Vision EQXX, which encapsulates true automotive beauty.
The car's exterior has a subtle retro-futurism flare that is paired with a sleek, aerodynamic stance. While the car is gorgeous on the outside, it's what's on the inside that really counts. The EQXX has a very impressive range of 621 miles. Earlier, we reported on how the EQXX went on
a historic European road trip.
The EQXX has generated a lot of buzz amongst both EV and Mercedes fans. The public is basically begging the German automaker to bring the EQXX into production. Despite the hype, Mercedes has made no official plans to put the EQXX in showrooms.
DS E-Tense concept car
DS is the luxury car brand under Citroen, which belongs to the multinational Stellantis group. DS isn't currently available in the states, but don't let that stop you from ogling this electric beast. The E-Tense is painted in a vivid chromatic green color that is sure to make it stand out. Its shape certainly brings back memories of American muscle cars.
While it first debuted at the Geneva Motor show in 2016, DS has continued to tinker with this concept car while showing it off at countless auto shows. It produces a jaw-dropping 815 horsepower and groundbreaking 0-60 mph time of two seconds flat, according to
While the E-Tense is mostly being touted across Europe, its design will likely find a place at home in America. As Stellantis is also the parent company of Dodge, many car journalists predict that the DS E-Tense will be the prototype for a future electric Dodge Challenger.
Who knew that the company best known for Walkmans would explode into the conglomerate it is today? While Sony has successfully ventured into the world of video games and blockbuster movies, there is another industry they would like to break into: electric vehicles.
That is the idea behind the Sony Vision-S. Unlike the other cars on this list, the Vision-S concept car isn't sporty, and looks much more like a suburban-friendly EV. Sony has produced two vehicle classes of the Vision S. There is the sedan Vision-S 01 and the SUV Vision-S 02.
To break the norm of most concept cars, Sony seems committed to bringing the Vision-S into full production.
