Venerable carmakers like Porsche need to keep up with new technologies to keep pace with upstart competition like Lucid in the
electric car
market. Both of these automakers offer premium new electric cars—the Porsche Taycan and the Lucid Air—and today we at
Jerry
are going to compare the two. This battle between the Lucid Air vs. Porsche Taycan pits the 21st-century firm Lucid against the traditional powerhouse Porsche. Which will come out on top?

Technical specifications: Lucid Air vs. Porsche Taycan

Before we discuss how gorgeously designed both the Lucid Air and Porsche Taycan are, we'll look at the specs of each. Every car buff wants to know how fast a car goes from 0 to 60 and until recently, electric autos disappointed, but the slowest of these two vehicles takes just 2.6 seconds.
You read that right. According to
Porsche
, the slightly slower Porsche Taycan goes from 0 to 60 in 2.6 seconds and takes a quarter-mile in 10.8 seconds.
Lucid
reports that the Air goes from 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds and takes a quarter-mile in less than 10 seconds.
To really make you drool, the Taycan offers a range of 199 to 212 miles on battery only, while the Lucid Air far outpaces it, traveling 406 to 516 miles on one charge. When it comes to horsepower, the Porsche produces 321 to 616 hp, while the Lucid manages to produce between 480 and 804 hp.

How do the designs differ on the Lucid Air vs. Porsche Taycan?

What about the interior, you ask? Both vehicles offer luxury on the inside, too, although the Lucid Air pushes the design envelope with a windshield that reaches up and over the rear seats. They don't call it sunroof, though, since it uses one continuous piece of glass.
Besides the gorgeous glass roof, the Air offers a less high-tech dashboard that most people find easy to operate. Younger drivers already accustomed to having everything on a touchscreen may not like this as much, though.
The Porsche Taycan, already known for its comfortable interior, finally added Android Auto to its infotainment system. That may not sound like major news, but the Taycan offers such a cozy interior that reviewers already say they want to make it their day-to-day car.
Porsche added a GTS trim that upgrades its front and rear styling. Lucid Air has yet to debut all of its trims for the Air since it launched its vehicle line with the top trim of the Air. The Air Pure will compete in starting price with a base model Porsche Taycan. Finally, the Porsche seats four, but the Lucid seats five.

Cost comparison

Both of these vehicles belong firmly in the luxury market. When the Lucid Air Pure debuts, it will do so at a base price of $87,400. The Porsche Taycan starts at $86,700 for its base model.
Changing from the base trim to advanced levels of luxury adds to the prices significantly. The Air's top trim, the Dream Edition, costs $170,500, while the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo Turbo S costs $187,600.
