By most metrics, the Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance can stand almost toe-to-toe with its direct competitor, the Tesla Model S Plaid.
The Model S Plaid boasts an EPA-estimated range of 396 miles and a breakneck 0-60 time of 1.99 seconds. Combined with its 200 mph top speed and 1,020 peak horsepower, the Model S is one of the most powerful EVs available on the market today.
The two EVs are definitely nothing to scoff at; their performance numbers are similar enough with trade-offs in a few areas, but it’s difficult to call who really has the better performance EV here.
The Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance boasts impressive numbers and beats Tesla in terms of horsepower and range, but Tesla wins if you consider 0-60 time and being first to market as the deciding factors.

The Lucid Air Grand Touring also surpassed previously published performance stats, with the automaker amending its horsepower rating to 819 from 800.
The automaker, which is majority-owned by the Saudi Arabian government, previously offered four trim levels of its Air EV: Air Pure, Air Touring, Air Grand Touring, and Air Dream Edition. While the Air Dream Edition has met its reserve limit of 520 units, the other three are still up for grabs.
