The F-Pace and E-Pace both come loaded with the latest tech, the highest design details, and a focus on performance that outpaces its competitors.

Pricing

Both Jaguar PHEV models are a bit more expensive than their competitors. The F-Pace starts at $54,000 and the E-Pace starts at $42,850. Thankfully, the overall cost of ownership is suppressed by the fuel costs of a PHEV—a mere fraction of what fuel costs are for a vehicle powered solely by gasoline.

Performance and fuel economy

The first Jaguar plug-in hybrid we’ll talk about is the F-Pace. This sporty SUV has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor that can generate an additional 141 horsepower.

With an estimated combined fuel economy of 113 to 130 mpg, the Jaguar F-Pace PHEV lags slightly behind its competitors and even its sibling. The electric-only function is capable of running for 33 miles. While this falls short of some competitors, like the BMW X5 PHEV, its capability falls in the middle of the pack.

You’ll hardly notice you’re driving a PHEV with a 0-60 mph time of 5.3 seconds. Driving an F-Pace PHEV is engaging thanks to its well-weighted body and balanced steering. You barely feel the added weight of the battery thanks to its powerful engine.

One thing to keep in mind when purchasing a PHEV is the battery charging time. Both the F-Pace and E-Pace are able to get to 80% charge in just 30 minutes, an industry best.

This is only with high-speed chargers, though. Charging to 80% on your home charger will take a little more than twice as long, and it will take five hours with a three-pin charger.

As for the E-Pace PHEV, it features a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor. Its electric-only driving range is similar at 34 miles and has an estimated combined mileage of 141 mpg. Its 0-60 mph time lags behind the F-Pace at 6.4 seconds.

As the smaller of the two Jaguar plug-in hybrid vehicles, driving the E-Pace PHEV delivers a tighter experience, though it does make for a rougher ride. Its smaller engine leads to a strained feeling at higher speeds, but if you’re sticking to the city streets, you might not even notice.

Exterior styling

Jaguar is known for being a sexy brand, and it doesn’t skimp on the styling of the Jaguar plug-in hybrid vehicles. The F-Pace and E–Pace are both sleek, sporty, and smooth. Since both vehicles are only available in higher trims, larger wheels come standard—19 inches on the E-Pace.

You have a choice of exterior color, too. The Fuji White comes standard, but if you pay an extra $650 you get an additional three options: Santorini Black, Firenze Red, and Bluefire Blue.

Interior and comfort

The quality is notable on both the F-Pace and the E-Pace. Every surface is covered with leather, metal, or glossy plastic with sturdy control buttons and knobs for the climate control and driving options. The upholstery is leather with diamond-quilted stitching, making for a truly opulent experience.

However, both Jaguar plug-in hybrid models are lacking in storage space even more so than their gasoline-powered counterparts. While there is some limited underfloor storage to make up for the lack of trunk space, you won’t be able to cruise daily with your charging cables—better leave those at home.

Technology

Jaguar doesn’t skimp on technology in its PHEV vehicles. Some have criticized Jaguar for apparently mounting an iPad on the dash and calling it infotainment, but the touchscreen display is surprisingly responsive and comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

When it comes to safety features, the Jaguar plug-in hybrid vehicles have great options available, but they don’t come standard. Features you can add include:

As for the battery, Jaguar hasn’t released any specific information on what the battery warranty is for its PHEVs. To get the PHEV option for the E-Pace, you’ll need to upgrade your trim options. The F-Pace PHEV powertrain is available for all trim levels.
