background
The Prologue SUV is
Honda
’s second attempt at an EV after the
Clarity
sedan was an all-around flop. Since it’s not due to be released until the 2024 model year, Honda has yet to release specific pricing information for the Prologue—but we predict a starting price tag of around $45,000.
In recent years, more and more vehicle manufacturers have begun producing hybrid, PHEV, and EV cars—and those who’ve yet to do so are rushing to catch up. While the Clarity was discontinued after the 2021 model year, along with the brand’s remaining fuel-cell and plug-in hybrid models, Honda intends to take another stab at the EV market with the 2024 Prologue.

2024 Honda Prologue pricing information

Official pricing information for the Honda Prologue has yet to be released, but we anticipate it’ll have a starting MSRP of around $45,000.
This estimate is based on the price of other Honda SUVs, as well as the price of the Prologue’s EV competitors. For example, the gas-powered 2022
Honda Pilot
costs at least $38,080 (and we can assume an EV will be slightly more expensive). It will likely be priced similarly to the 2022
Ford Mustang Mach-E
, which has a starting MSRP of $43,895.
Specific trims for the Prologue also haven’t been confirmed, but it’s reasonable to expect that Honda’s traditional trims—LX, EX, EX-L, and Touring—will be used.
If that’s the case, estimated pricing for each trim (based on price increases for other Honda SUVs) is as follows:
  • LX: $45,000
  • EX: $48,000
  • EX-L: $51,000
  • Touring: $55,000

What is the cheapest Honda Prologue EV?

Unfortunately, details won’t be confirmed until much closer to the Prologue’s actual debut—perhaps sometime in 2023.
We expect the cheapest version of this mid-size SUV will boast an attractive exterior—perhaps similar to the Honda Passport—and a driving range of at least 250-320 miles.

Is a Honda Prologue worth it?

At this point, it’s too soon to tell if a Honda Prologue is a worthwhile investment. In general, hybrid, PHEV, and all-electric vehicles are increasing in popularity, due to their amazing fuel efficiency and all-around futuristic vibes.
In very recent years, the only EV SUVs on the market were expensive luxury vehicles—but more and more affordable brands are entering the electrified space. Honda’s EV will certainly provide an additional option to those looking for something affordable and incredibly fuel efficient.
Finally, we can attest that Honda, in general, receives consistently high rankings when it comes to reliability and value—so we have pretty high expectations for the 2024 Prologue.

What is the horsepower of a Honda Prologue?

According to reports, Honda plans to feature a 100-kWh Ultium battery and a 340-horsepower rear-mounted electric motor that delivers 325 lb-ft of torque.

What is the range of the Honda Prologue?

Based on the
Chevy Blazer
EV—which is also produced by GM—we expect that the Honda Prologue will have about 300 miles of driving range.

Is the Honda Prologue reliable?

We won’t truly know if the Honda Prologue is a reliable vehicle until several years after its release; however, we can attest that Honda receives consistently high reliability rankings overall.
Honda’s Reliability Rating as a brand is 4.0 out of 5.0, placing it first among 32 vehicle companies, according to
RepairPal
.
