FLASH Launches Cloud-Based EV Charging

FLASH’s cloud-based EV charging aims to mitigate the problems electric vehicle owners face at the charger.

Electric vehicles (EVs)
come with tons of great perks—they’re better for the environment, cost less on average to maintain, and can even be
safer than gas-powered vehicles
. But one major complaint drivers often have about electric vehicles is charging, as both charging time and frequency for electric vehicles can be a pain point.
FLASH, a software-based parking company, has heard this complaint and developed cloud-based EV charging to help solve the problem.

What is FLASH?

FLASH is an innovative, technology-first, parking company that has recently unveiled a new solution to electric vehicle charging. The company, which was founded in 2011, prides itself on being the largest cloud-native parking technology platform, while also providing the necessary infrastructure and equipment for success.
The goal of FLASH is to transform how parking lots work by doing away with outdated technology for updated, innovative solutions. According to
PR Newswire
, Chairman and CEO of FLASH Dan Sharplin stated that the electric vehicle charging software developments were aiding in transforming FLASH from a parking software company to a leader in connected, electrified mobility, a major step toward the company’s greater mission.

FLASH’s Cloud-Based EV Charging

FLASH’s latest innovation in parking aims to give drivers of electric vehicles a more seamless charging experience.
According to
, EVP and General Manager of FLASH Ben Davee, stated that the new charging technology is “a cloud-born operating system monitored remotely and supported by on site parking operators that maintain the highest level of operability for our gates, kiosks, cameras, chargers, and payment stations.”
The new cloud-based technology should
reduce charging downtime
, as the cloud technology allows electric vehicle owners to maintain chargers from anywhere in real-time. Right now, the technology is aimed at Level 2 electric vehicle charging, with hopes to expand soon.
For parking lot owners, there are different payment levels and plans available, and for drivers looking to park, spots with the cloud-based EV technology are easily reserved through
parking apps

Why does FLASH’s Cloud-Based EV Charging Matter?

For many electric vehicle drivers, the biggest issue with their vehicle is the
difficulty in charging it
Public electric vehicle chargers can be hard to find, requiring drivers to search for long periods of time for an open charger, and once one is found, it takes far longer to charge than gas-powered vehicles take to fill up at the pump. Not only is charging a pain point for electric vehicle owners, but it might even deter some potential purchasers away from electric vehicle ownership.
While some electric vehicle drivers have charging ports at home, or utilize public chargers when they’ll be parked for long periods of time, neither of those things are realistic or practical for every electric vehicle driver. And that’s where FLASH comes in.
FLASH’s cloud-based electric vehicle charging technology makes it fast and easy for electric vehicle owners to find parking lots with available chargers, and minimizes the charging time, too. With this new charging technology, the world of electric vehicle parking could be revolutionized.
