The GM Hummer
EV
made waves in America, and apparently in China, as well. A new Hummer spinoff, the Dongfeng Mengshi M-Terrain, is wowing Chinese drivers. We’re impressed as well, and curious. After all, it’s not every day you encounter a 1,000-plus horsepower, quadruple motor EV.
The Dongfeng Mengshi M-Terrain may be your new dream vehicle, but what about
your dream insurance policy
? You might assume you’re getting the best rates, but more often than not, everyday drivers are getting overcharged for the insurance they need. The Jerry app can help discern fact from fiction—and it only takes minutes to sign up.

The Dongfeng Mengshi M-Terrain: A beautiful, crab-walking monster

InsideEVs
explains that although the Dongfeng Mengshi M-Terrain is a concept vehicle, it’ll likely go on sale sometime in 2023. It’s a four-door SUV from hell, measuring 17 feet in length and weighing 3.5 tons (7,700 pounds). This concept vehicle will have an available quadruple motor setup, offering 1,070 horsepower and an impressive 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds.
The Dongfeng Mengshi M-Terrain isn’t lacking in endurance, either—it should offer about 310 miles of battery range, and may even have a range extender that should help it reach 497 miles worth of battery life before needing to recharge. The M-Terrain is able to crab-walk thanks to rear-wheel and front-wheel steering that helps to jostle the vehicle out of tight spots, just like the original Hummer EV

How much does the Dongfeng Mengshi M-Terrain cost?

Right now, pricing isn’t available for the Dongfeng Mengshi M-Terrain, simply because it hasn’t gotten close enough to its debut. As a concept vehicle that’s based on the Hummer EV, we can assume that this EV monstrosity should cost Chinese drivers somewhere around the U.S. equivalent of $100,000, or about 692,650¥.
It’s definitely not cheap, but it’s also an EV with not one, but four motors, and a possible battery extender that grants almost 500 miles of range. It’s certainly a car that American drivers might find themselves pining for.

Will the Dongfeng Mengshi M-Terrain be a hit in China?

It very could be, considering that the EV truck market is booming at the moment. Chinese drivers, especially post-COVID, are looking for ways to escape the congestion and pollution of the cities.
That means outdoor spaces are becoming more valued and utilized in China. Even though the M-Terrain isn’t a pickup, it still falls within the EV utility vehicle segment, meaning that it will most likely find a dedicated customer base.
