The growing number of choices can make
car buying
overwhelming, and the compact car segment is no exception. Spotting key differences can help you decide on the best vehicle for your situation.

Features of the Chevy Bolt EV

This fully electric hatchback has been redesigned for 2022. Pricing starts at $32,495, which is greatly reduced from previous years. It boasts a surprisingly roomy interior for its size. Cargo space grows from 17 cu. ft. to 57 cu. ft. with the rear seats folded down.
Upscale materials, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and 8-inch digital gauge adorn the cabin. The infotainment system has a 10.2-inch touchscreen and comes with all the popular connectivity features.
The motor produces 200 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive is the only option. Acceleration is instantaneous, but does taper off at highway speeds, as per

It now comes with a dual-level charging cord, eliminating the need for many owners to invest in a separate home charger. The Chevy Bolt EV offers a competitive range of 259 miles, and a combined fuel economy rating of 120 MPGe.

Features of the Toyota Prius Prime

This plug-in hybrid hatchback is affordably priced at $29,695.

Its pure electric range is a meager 25 miles, leaving it far behind the competition. It has a combined fuel economy rating of 54 mpg, barely surpassing its hybrid Camry and Corolla siblings.
A 121 hp four-cylinder engine is paired to an electric motor, battery pack, and CVT. This powertrain oscillates smoothly between gas and electric power. There are three driving modes.
The cargo area of the Toyota Prius Prime is compromised by the larger battery. However, drivers will appreciate the extra headspace.

Both vehicles include an abundance of safety and driver assist features, but the Prius Prime comes standard with most. The Bolt EV can be equipped with a 360-degree camera system.
Toyota offers owners better warranty coverage for its hybrid components, while Chevrolet boasts an additional three years or 40,000 miles for its powertrain.
