Automakers around the world are scrambling to join the ever-accelerating demand for electric-powered SUVs.
It seems the great
electric car
race is just beginning and no premium auto manufacturer wants to be left behind. The battle for the best is nothing but good news for consumers.
Drivers are certainly impressed by the
new BMW iX
with its superior performance, good looks, and more than adequate 280 miles of range. But the iX is not without its rivals.
The also-new Cadillac Lyriq is geared up to compete and electric luxury SUV driving has never looked so good. Jerry makes sure you get the
best car insurance
no matter which one you choose to drive.

The BMW iX takes the electric SAV experience to a whole new level

The all-electric BMW iX midsize luxury crossover excels in both performance and style. The iX's innovatively unique and comfortable interior is hard to beat.
With spacious storage options and the large, expressive exterior BMW fans expect, the all-electric iX lives up to its name. It features all the luxurious interior details and state-of-the-art technology drivers love.
The BMW iX arrives with an all-wheel-drive dual-motor powertrain that produces a maximum of 610 hp. According to
BMW USA
, the iX can go from 0-60 mph in approximately 3.6 seconds based on the 2023 BMW iX M60 model. The iX's power comes from a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery.
BMW makes it easy to charge your SAV by providing several power options for the iX. Not only does the company offer two years of complimentary charging at
Electrify America stations
, but it also comes equipped with a portable Flexible Fast Charger.
Rapid charging at home is accessible with the BMW Wallbox which promises full charge in under 12 hours.

How does the Cadillac Lyriq compare to the BMW iX?

The new all-electric Cadillac Lyriq SUV is ready to give the BMW iX some respectable competition.
Its futuristic rear light bar and sharp, sporty design make it stand out from the iX. You can expect top-of-the-line technology including hands-free driver assistance, over-the-air software updates, and minimum road noise with Active Noise Cancellation.
The Cadillac Lyriq, like the BMW iX, is also available in dual-motor power all-wheel drive. The standard rear-wheel drive Lyriq gets an EPA-estimated range of 312 miles.
The all-wheel-drive numbers are still pending and not available yet.
Cadillac
estimates the Lyriq will make 340 hp and could accomplish an estimated 500 hp with the all-wheel-drive version.
Charging your Cadillac Lyriq is simply a matter of plugging it into your public or own home charger. If you are able to use a DC fast charging station in your community, you can expect to get 76 miles of range with a 10-minute charge.
Cadillac's Smart System also offers all the safety features drivers prefer.

Cadillac Lyriq vs. BMW iX - which is the better luxury car?

It is difficult to upstage all the benefits of driving the BMW iX but the Cadillac Lyriq is giving it its best shot. Both SUVs share a similar range and powertrain and both offer advanced technology options. The iX has a power advantage over the Lyriq with its xDrive 50's 516 horsepower.
The new all-electric Cadillac Lyriqis a little smaller than the BMW iX but it is compensated for the difference by its superior styling. Its dramatically-lighted front grille and full-glass roof add a touch of elegance. The Lyriq's interior is not as forward-thinking or innovative as the iX instead offering a pleasing, minimalist look.
The Lyriq has the upper hand when it comes to price. The standard rear-wheel drive has a starting price of $62,990 which is approximately $21,000 less than BMW's iX xDrive 50.
Once Lyriq introduces its all-wheel variant at $64,900, the BMW iX might find itself having a value-motivated run for its money.
