Like the rest of GM’s brands,
Buick is going electric
over the coming years, and now, each new
Buick
EV will be known as the Electra, followed by a numeral. There’s one outlier, though: the Buick Electra Wildcat coupe. This concept car draws its name from the OG 1966 Wildcat—a legendary classic car from generations past. But its powertrain, especially the dual motor option, will be entirely modern.
Whether to like the ‘66 Wildcat or the Electra concept isn’t something we can help with. But if you’re looking for a fast and simple way to determine whether you’re getting overcharged for your

Buick is looking to restore its old glory with models like the Electra coupe

The only reason Buick was saved by GM, according to
MotorTrend
, is because the brand is popular in
China
. But one of Buick’s new challenges is to take back some of its former brand image, which had been lost over the past decades.
Now, Buick is attempting to re-establish itself as a trustworthy luxury brand. This could start with the Electra Wildcat coupe, which is likely to be the brand’s flagship sports sedan.

What kind of powertrain will the Buick Electra Wildcat have?

Electra SUV's powertrain could mimic that of the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq, which will launch with a single motor in the rear, good for 340 hp, 325 lb-ft of torque, and about 300 miles of range. But even more exciting is the dual motor option, which MotorTrend predicts will be available in the
Cadillac Lyriq
sometime in 2023.
Concepts of this electric motor shown by GM provide up to 583 hp, a 0-60 time of 4.3 seconds, and about 370 miles of battery range. It’s expected that the Lyric and the Buick Electra Wildcat will share the same body and highly similar powertrain options.

What else is known about the Buick Electra lineup?

Car and Driver
reports that The Buick Electra SUV will go on sale sometime in 2023, and we know that it’ll show off one-pedal driving, regenerative braking, and the Buick version of GM’s hands-free driver assist features.
We don’t know pricing options for certain, but expect a starting price of around $55,000 for the Buick Electra Wildcat coupe and SUV. The Buick Electra SUV will go on sale in 2025, even though it’ll be revealed in 2023. It could be several more years before the Buick Electra Wildcat coupe makes it to the production line, but we have our fingers crossed that it will be sooner rather than later.
