The 2023 BMW iX will come in two models—the xDrive50 with a maximum driving range of 324 miles and the M60 which will top off at 280 miles. This is, in part, thanks to a 111.5 kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack with an advanced active thermal management system.
BMW is rolling into the future with its powerful all-electric SUV. The vehicle’s impressive performance and fancy, futuristic design allow it to rival some of the top-of-the-line EVs on the market, including the Tesla Model X, the Audi Q4 E-Tron, and the Volkswagen ID.4.

2023 BMW iX driving range

Across trims, the EPA-estimated maximum driving range for the 2023 BMW is 324 miles. This number is extremely important to consider, as it determines how far you can drive your car without worrying about recharging. You’ll need to know this for day-to-day use as well as for road trips, so you know where and when to stop for a power-up.
In 2023, the BMW iX will be available in two models—the entry-level xDrive50 and the more powerful and expensive M60. Both will be equipped with the same 111.5 kWh high-voltage lithium-ion battery pack with an advanced active thermal management system.
The M60 will boast stronger dual all-electric motors. All of that power comes at a price, however. While the xDrive50 has a driving range of up to 324 miles, the M60 maxes out at 280 miles.
Keep in mind that your BMW’s actual driving range will depend on a variety of factors in addition to the vehicle model, including but not limited to tire and wheel selection, driving style, traffic conditions, and outside temperatures.

2023 BMW iX charging time and fuel economy

Driving range isn’t the only factor you’ll want to consider when evaluating an electric vehicle. Charging time is also a need-to-know spec! Charging time simply estimates how long it’ll take your car’s battery to go from 0 to 100%, and it’s a great way to predict how easy your vehicle will be to live with.
To make your SUV as convenient as possible, every BMW iX comes equipped with the new Flexible Fast Charger. This portable device, compatible with any 120V or 240V outlet, delivers optimized charging wherever you go.
At a 240V outlet, which you can install into your home’s garage, you’ll be able to take your iX’s battery from 0 to 100% in under 12 hours. If you have access to a DC fast charger out on the road (perhaps at your school or office), you can go from 10 to 80% in 35 minutes or less! On the other hand, a typical household socket (120V) will take over a day.

Another factor to consider is fuel economy, which refers to how far a vehicle can travel on a specific amount of fuel. High fuel economy is good—because that means your car burns through less fuel. For electric vehicles, fuel economy is measured in miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent (MPGe).
The EPA estimates that the most efficient iX model is the one equipped with the standard 20-inch wheels, which earned ratings of 86 MPGe city and 87 MPGe highway. Going with one of the iX's larger sets of wheels may slightly reduce those numbers.

When it comes to affordability, neither BMW iX model can hold a candle to much less expensive options like the Volkswagen ID.4, the Audi Q4 E-Tron, or even the
Tesla Model Y
However, when it comes to power and performance, the iX M60 is the way to go—only Tesla’s SUVs even come close to the vehicle’s 0 to 60 times.
As for driving range, the xDrive50 does a great job at outperforming much of the competition (except Tesla, that is)—while the M60 is pretty average.
