Aptera’s solar EV has been in development for over three years
Up to 3,000 reservations have been placed for the Solar EV, and after its release (scheduled tentatively for 2023), it could end up giving Lucid and Tesla a run for their money.
What do we know about pricing and trim options in the Aptera Solar EV?
Though the top trim option offers the highly-coveted 1,000-mile battery range, there are lower trims that we may see available in 2023. These offer between 250-500 miles of range, but the top-level battery option costs a reasonable $44,900.
So far, the Aptera Solar EV comes with solar panels on the roof and dashboard, which can add over 40 miles of range to the vehicle each day, even as it’s being driven. All-wheel drive is available for an extra $2,500, adding practicality to the Aptera Solar EV.
Custom colors are also purchasable, though pricing for these more vivid hues remains vague. Other add-ons include yet-undisclosed “limited edition” features, “enhanced audio”, and even a “pet kit”, which tacks on a cabin divider for dogs and other furry friends.
Is the Aptera Solar EV worth reserving?
Take into mind that few have been able to drive the Aptera Solar EV—we don’t know how responsive the handling, braking, and user features are. And as J.D. Power has recently reported, EVs are experiencing more issues due to advanced features that haven’t had time to be refined yet. But still, 1,000 miles on a single charge is hard to ignore. If you do invest in an Aptera Solar EV, it costs a mere $100 for a down payment, but don’t forget about all the add-ons you’ll likely want.
