Of course, what we get probably won't be what we see here. A new all-electric Acura SUV will hit dealer lots in 2024.
Italian-inspired exterior
The concept was inspired by the elegance, artistry, and harmony of form and function of Italian power boats.
Sustainable race car-inspired interior
The performance-focused interior of the Acura Precision EV Concept displays Acura's idea of an immersive driving experience that stimulates the driver's senses.
The hyper-modern interior features two experiences: an exhilarating Instinctive Drive mode that heightens the performance experience and a calming Spiritual Lounge mode during hands-free autonomous operation.
It was inspired by the cockpit of a Formula 1 race car with a low driving position, high-performance driver sightlines, and a yoke-style steering wheel.
The interior is built using environmentally friendly and sustainable materials such as marbled recycled plastic trim and 100% biomass leather.
The aluminum and acrylic were also made from recycled materials, while milled MSC-certified wood was harvested from responsibly managed forests.
A history of design concepts
The Acura Precision EV concept is the third such concept from Acura since 2016.
“The Acura Precision EV Concept gives a sneak peek of our future Dual Experience interior design philosophy,” said Simon Yu, Acura's senior interior designer, in the press release.
“We want to provide exhilarating performance driving control with a sophisticated and invigorating lounge environment that immerses the driver’s senses.”
Monterey Car Week kicked off Aug. 17 with the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca and concluded with the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance on Aug. 21.
Vehicles unveiled at the exclusive event include the DeLorean Alpha5, an electrified model inspired by the original DeLorean DMC-12 featured prominently in the Back to the Future series.
Another blast from the past revealed at Monterey includes the Meyers Manx 2.0 Electric. The original Meyers Manx is probably one of the most widely recognized dune buggies in history—and it's getting new life as an all-electric recreational vehicle for 2023.
In more conventional vehicle news, Cadillac unveiled its Cadillac Celestiq, an electric wagon featuring a 55-inch touchscreen display.
