The 2024 Ram 1500 EV is set to compete with other contenders like the Chevy Silverado EV, Ford F-150 Lightning, GMC Hummer EV, Tesla Cybertruck, and Rivian R1T.
The 2024 Ram will have a more futuristic look than the gas-powered option and offer fast-charging up to 150 kW. It will also ride on a new platform. According to
MotorTrend
, “Given the tip of the brand's electrified spear today is the eTorque ultra-mild-hybrid versions of its gas engines, this is quite the pivot.” While Ram’s electric full-size pickup is a little late to the party, Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares says the new performance package will make up for it. Buyers can look forward to competitive towing, range, time to charge, and payload.
The company teased fans with the promise of aerodynamic lines and dramatic lighting. Can we look forward to red lights across the top and sides of the tailgate and the “Ram” decal illuminated in the center?
We do know that the look of the electric ram will differ from the convention pickup currently offered on the market, while still respecting long-time buyers.
New systems and impressive range
There’s also been talk of advanced autonomous driving capabilities. “Other expected systems include an EV trip energy monitor, a charge station locator, preconditioning, and numerous drive modes,” according to

. While Ford’s new
F-150 Lightning
has a driving range of 300 miles and the GMC Hummer EV can hit 350 miles, the Ram is expected to outshine them both. With a 500-mile range, the new Ram aims to redefine the segment. Battery size and charging times are still unknown. The 2024 Ram 1500 will offer standard all-wheel drive, body-on-frame construction and should be able to tow more than its competitors. “Currently, the F-150 Lightning has an official maximum towing capacity of 10,000 pounds, so expect the Ram's max to exceed that,”

While the actual cost has yet to be revealed, the 2024 Ram 1500 EV is expected to start at around $45,000. We’re waiting to hear what equipment will come standard, or optional and what additional trim levels will look like.

don’t stop here. According to MotorTrend, “Ram is also planning electric heavy-duty trucks. While some will be battery-electric, the automaker will also offer Ram HDs with fuel cells for fleet customers, allowing them to refuel in four minutes in their depots.”Once the Ram 1500 and HD electric pickups are launched, Ram plans to offer fans a midsize or smaller compact pickup truck. The replacement for the discontinued Dakota is in its early planning stages and may not happen for a few more years.
