Highlights of the 2022 Kia Niro Electric

This EV is
Consumer Reports’
number one ranked EV, and for good reason. Kia clearly spent time attempting to perfect this hatchback, and it shows. Some of the main highlights of this EV, which received a notably high overall score of 88 out of 100, include:
  •  A 239-mile battery range, as estimated by the EPA
  • A large battery that’s positioned low on the EV’s center of gravity, meaning responsive handling with minimal body roll around corners
  • A plethora of standard safety features, including forward collision warning (FCW), automatic emergency braking (AEB), blind-spot warning (BSW), and rear cross-traffic warning (RCTW)
  • An optional battery heater and heat pump for drivers in chilly climates. These features help keep the cabin warm without draining the battery too quickly
Some of the other appealing standard features are its quick 0-60 mph time of 6.8 seconds, and a standard touchscreen 10.25-inch display with built-in navigation that comes with Kia's UVO connectivity service.
As with many new vehicles, the 2022 Kia Niro Electric also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Connectivity.

Points to consider before buying the 2022 Kia Niro Electric

As stated before, the 2022 Kia Niro Electric isn’t perfect; it has a few drawbacks that buyers should consider, even though it is Consumer Reports’ top choice for EVs in 2022.
The battery on the 2022 Kia Niro Electric takes 10 long hours to charge, and it should be noted that public charging stations are few and far between in some areas.
Another annoying detail is the high-pitch whine that Kia chose to outfit the 2022 Kia Niro Electric with; as with all EVs, these vehicles are notoriously quiet. At speeds under 12 mph, the vehicle emits a noise to alert pedestrians of its presence, but the sound is noticeably loud from within the cabin.
The 2022 Kia Niro Electric also has roof pillars that create large blind spots for the driver, posing a potential hazard while driving through crowded suburban or urban areas with lots of pedestrians or other vehicles.
