When it comes to classic American cars, there may not be many cars that are as iconic as the
Chevrolet
Corvette. This all-American muscle car has had many good years, and while the
2023 Chevy Corvette
is a great option, some drivers may want an older and more timeless Corvette.
Here's a look at the 2015 Corvette and why it's still a timeless beauty.

How the 2015 Corvette came to be

The Corvette has had a long and eventful history, and the 2015 Corvette is part of the car's seventh generation. Chevy launched the seventh generation of the Corvette in the 2014 model year, but it was missing something.
According to
Car and Driver
, that something was the performance-oriented Z06 trim. Chevy chose the 2015 model year to be the first model year in the new generation to get this trim, and it didn't disappoint.
The standard Corvette had a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that got 455 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. This was powerful enough for most drivers, but the Z06 trim gave the Corvette a much more powerful engine compared to before.

The brand-new engine was still a 6.2-liter V-8, except it was now supercharged. This allowed it to get about 638 horsepower, which is an almost 200-horsepower upgrade from before. This shouldn't be too surprising, since the Z06 trim has a reputation for making the Corvette a
true speed demon
.
Power wasn't the only thing that the new trim gave the 2015 Corvette. The Z06 trim also made changes to the Chevy's body, and it now used more carbon fiber than before. There were, of course, many more performance-related changes to the Corvette, but the result is the same.
Thanks to all of those upgrades, the Corvette's new Z06 trim allowed it to go from 0 to 60 mph in just under 3 seconds. For comparison, the standard Corvette's V-8 allowed it to go from 0 to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. The Chevy's top speed was also increased to 185 mph thanks to this new trim.

Along with the extra power and weight upgrades, Chevy also gave the 2015 Corvette some handling improvements. Taken together, this made the Corvette a very fast car to drive, both in a straight line and on the track. That was also a big reason why the 2015 Corvette was so popular.
Like any sports car, though, the 2015 Corvette wasn't cheap. It started at $55,000 with the regular V-8 engine, and the Z06 trim came in at about $80,000 at the time. Even though this version of the Corvette is a few years old, its held its value rather well. Due to the chip shortages, used Corvettes are worth more than ever.
A used regular 2015 Corvette may cost about $45,000, while the Z06 trim will cost about $60,000. If the owner added some options and accessories to their Corvette, however, then its price tag will be several thousand dollars more.
