What do I do if my Mazda MPV sliding door won’t open?

My Mazda MPV power sliding door has stopped working. It seems like no matter what I do, it won’t open. It was working just fine the last time I drove it. What should I do?

Sorry to hear you’re having door troubles! Usually when a Mazda MPV power sliding doors stop working, they just need to be reset. To begin the reset process, first:
  • Place your MPV in Park.
  • Set the emergency brake.
  • Ensure all doors and windows are fully closed.
  • Turn the ignition OFF.
  • Place the sliding door master power switch in the OFF position.
Now you’re ready to perform your door reset by following these steps:
  • Open the driver’s door and leave it open.
  • Lock and unlock the driver’s door using the power door lock switch on the door.
  • Insert your key into the ignition.
  • Turn the key to the ON position and return to the OFF position 3 times within 10 seconds.
  • Open and close the driver’s door 3 times, leaving it open after the third time.
  • The ECU should respond by locking and unlocking all doors.
  • Press any button on your key fob, and the ECU should respond by locking and unlocking all doors again.
  • Remove the key from the ignition, and the ECU will respond a final time by locking and unlocking all the doors.
Now that you’ve reset your door locks, your power sliding doors should be working properly. If they’re not, it’s time to head to a mechanic or Mazda dealer to take care of a more complicated car repair
