Style in a small package: the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe

With eight trims to choose from—each also available in convertible form—buyers interested in the 2015 Chevy Camaro coupe have a lot of options to consider. When it first rolled off the line in 2015, this model started at $31,205 for the base trim, but you can find a top-tier trim today for around $30k.
For those considering a Camaro, power is a key spec, so let's start with powertrain options. Entry-level
Camaro LS
and
Camaro LT
models feature:
  • 3.6-liter V6
  • 323 horsepower
  • 278 pound feet of torque
  • 20–22 mpg combined EPA-estimated fuel economy
  • 0-60 in 5.2 seconds
Those looking for a little more power could go for the
Camaro SS
:
  • 6.2-liter V8
  • 426 horsepower
  • 420 pound feet of torque
  • 18–19 mpg combined EPA-estimated fuel economy
  • 0-60 in 4.8 seconds
Still need more power? How about the
Camaro ZL1
with its supercharged 6.2-liter V8:
  • 580 horsepower
  • 556 pound feet of torque
  • 14–16 mpg combined EPA-estimated fuel economy
  • 0-60 in 4.4 seconds
At the top of the trim ladder for price, but not necessarily performance, Chevy offers the race-oriented Camaro Z/28:
  • 7.0-liter V8
  • 505 horsepower
  • 481 pound feet of torque
  • 15 mpg combined EPA-estimated fuel economy
  • 0-60 in 4.5 seconds

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe comfortable?

Sure—as long as you’re in the front seat. The rear seat is small even by muscle-car standards.
Cloth manually-adjustable front seats with power recline are standard on the base LS trim. Moving up to the 1LT gets you power seat adjustments and the 2LT adds leather upholstery and heated seats while the ZL1 includes simulated-suede upholstery. An available RS option package swaps out the buckets on the SS and ZL1 models for Recaro sport seats.
Other comfort and convenience options included as standard equipment include air conditioning,
cruise control
, and a manual tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel
Back seats remain the same at all trims—cramped. Whether upholstered in cloth or leather, the back seat is best saved for occasional use by small children or as cargo space.

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe reliable?

Yes. The 2015 Chevrolet Camaro coupe earns above average reliability ratings from both RepairPal (3.5/5.0) and J.D. Power (82/100).

Is the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe safe?

While the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro coupe was not rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives it a 5-star overall safety rating.

2015 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe trim levels

The 2015 Chevy Camaro coupe is available in 8 trims: 1LS, 2LS, 1LT, 2LT, 1SS,
2SS
, ZL1, and Z/28.
Standard equipment on the base 1LS  includes:
  • 6-speed manual transmission
  • 18-inch alloy wheels
  • Automatic headlights
  • Keyless entry
  • Bluetooth phone connectivity
  • OnStar
  • 6-speaker sound system with CD player, auxiliary audio input, and satellite radio
The 2LS includes all this equipment, but adds the option of an automatic transmission
1LT models add to the LS equipment with fog lights, remote start (automatic transmission only), and a 7-inch touchscreen with Chevy MyLink smartphone integration. Most 2LT model features are available as one-off options on the 1LT, and include:
  • 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Heated outside mirrors with driver-side auto-dimming
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Head-up display
  • Additional gauges
  • Auto-dimming rear-view mirror
  • Rear-view camera
  • 9-speaker Boston Acoustics audio system
An optional sunroof is available on all but the LS and Z/28 trims.
Stepping up to the 1SS gets you everything included on the 1LT, along with:
  • 20-inch alloy wheels
  • Sport-tuned suspension
  • Limited-slip rear differential
  • Leather-wrapped steering wheel
The 2SS adds these same sport features to the 2LT trim’s standard equipment.
A 1LE Performance package is available to add on SS models equipped with a manual transmission. It includes unique gearing, race-oriented suspension tuning, and performance tires. The ZL1 trim dials up the performance equipment with:
  • Adaptive suspension with magnetic dampers
  • Brembo brakes
  • Retuned power steering
  • Xenon headlights
  • Carbon-fiber air extractor
  • Rear spoiler
  • Flat-bottomed steering wheel
The Z/28 Camaro coupe is stripped down for racing performance. Rather than adding more features, the Z/28 is stripped down to save on weight. The audio system features just one speaker, and much of the sound-deadening materials have been removed from the cabin along with the air-conditioning system (which can be added as an option). This high-performance model is only offered with a six-speed manual and oodles of other track-oriented goodies.

How to find the best insurance for the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe

Insurance on used cars, like the 2015 Chevy Camaro, tends to be more affordable than coverage on a new car. Still, the Camaro’s potent powertrains and track-oriented specs can still lead to more expensive coverage than you might expect—unless you shop for
