I love off-roading in my Jeep, so I’m thinking about adding a winch to the front bumper. I know they can get pretty expensive, so I’m looking for something that won’t break the bank. What is the best budget winch for a Jeep?

As far as Jeep accessories go, winches can get pretty pricey, but thankfully there are some very wallet-friendly ones on the market. The Smittybilt 97495 XRC Gen2, Superwinch LP8500, Warn VR Series Electric, Rough Pro Series Electric are the best budget winches for a

. Here’s a little bit about each one:Smittybilt 97495 XRC Gen2: $340 - $380
- Pros: 9,500 lb pulling capacity, 6.6-hp motor, comparable gear system to more expensive models, 100% waterproof, lifetime warranty, easy to install
- Cons: Does not come with wireless remote, you need to purchase your own battery and mounting plate for it
Superwinch LP8500: $500 - $550
- Pros: 8,500-lb pulling capacity, 4.5-hp motor, lightweight and easy to use, automatic load-holding brakes, fast line payout
- Cons: Not as durable, prone to rust
Warn VR Series Electric Winch: $650 - $700
- Pros: 8,000 to 12,000 lb pulling capacity, comes with 7-year electrical warranty, waterproof design, choice of stainless steel cable or synthetic rope, easy to operate
- Cons: Bolts prone to rust, only 90 ft (as opposed to the usual 100 ft) of synthetic rope/stainless steel cable
