What engine is in a Toyota Prius?
What kind of engine does the Toyota Prius use? Does it use gas at all? If not, is it still able to go fast? I’ve never driven anything except a gas-powered car, so I want to know more about the Prius before I consider buying one.

Essentially, there are two engines in a
Toyota Prius
: a gasoline engine and a battery-powered engine. The gasoline engine is a 1.8L four-cylinder. Series-parallel hybrid vehicles like the Toyota Prius allow these two engine types to function independently from one another. But the gas-powered engine can also be used to charge the electric engine.
If you are looking to buy a more eco-friendly vehicle, the Toyota Prius is a great place to start. While the Prius is designed to use electric power whenever possible, it can switch over to gas when necessary, so you won’t run out of charge in the middle of a trip.
